Hello, everybody. Well, last night I finally started playing Final Fantasy 3 (aka Final Fantasy 6 in Japan). And I got much to mention after my first hour of play. Here's what happened:

So it seems that it's not one of those RPG's that takes to a file select screen at the start, you just start right at the intro story. After that, it was mostly random battles. One I found interesting is this Whelk battle. In my second attempt, I learned that you don't target the Whelk's shell. Moments later came a cutscene where Terra was abducted into slavery. Then we meet Locke as well as three groups of Moogles. For some reason I got a game over twice in the room where Locke meets the Moogles. It was not because I was out of HP. But I'm not sure what the real reason is.

That's all for now.

Of course you don't hit the Whelk's shell. They actually tell you that at the start of the fight. =P

As for the moogle battle, did they reach Terra? Your goal is to make sure none of the enemy groups reach her. It's an automatic Game Over if you fail.

Well, time for another progress. But more importantly, it's my very first post since v6 was introduced (but that statement's a bit irrelevant). Anyway, here's what happened:

So, I finally cleared out all those enemies in the moogle room before they got to Terra. Then from that point on it took me a while to figure out where I'm going next. It turns out the next place to go is Figaro. So I went there, but all I ended up doing was a whole lot of random battles before I eventually lost. I was told you could save anywhere on the overworld, but I was unable to find a Save Point I could use. But, on the bright side there isn't that much to re-do.

That's all for now.

If you were told you could save ANYWHERE on the world map, why would you be looking for a save point? =P

If you haven't figured it out yet or been told yet, you can save from the menu anywhere on the worldmap. Hope it helps and hope you enjoy the game. I think it's pretty fantastic.

By the way, Gold, very important. This game has a LOT of hidden items to find. When you're exploring, check every single crate and barrel you come across. More importantly, check every clock, 'cause they have Elixers.

WARNING: The following progress report nearly brought out the rage in me. Here's what happened:

So, I attempted to progress through more of Figaro. I found Figaro Castle and looked around for a bit. Then we come to these random battles I ended up in. But the one enemy that really brought out the rage in me was this was that has a "numb" attack. Why was I furious by this? It's an attack that freezes your ally for a certain amount of time. Anyway, moments after I fought my way through, I found where you can ride a Chocobo. It was a fun ride. Anyway, I was told the next place to go is Mt. Kolts. But I haven't found the place yet. But I'll keep looking for it.

That's all for now.

Okay, well after the following progress report, I guess things are starting to go well after all. Here's what happened:

I was beginning to question if I left Locke behind. But no, apparently I got him back after revisiting Figaro Castle. It was there I realized I didn't end up talking to everybody. At one point the castle burned down and sunk under the sand. Then I finally made my way to South Figaro. Gave me a chance to stock up on some items before moving on to Mt. Kolts. But what I didn't realize was status ailments don't wear off at the end of battles in this game. This made me totally regret not stocking up on Antidotes. Which means now I'll have to turn back and buy more.

That's all for now.

Did you buy any relics, yet? Some of them can be pretty handy. They're like the accessories in Super Mario RPG. I forget which ones were for sale in South Figaro.

By the way, one of the status effects, Blind, does absolutely nothing. It's SUPPOSED to make it harder to hit enemies with normal attacks, but they programmed it wrong. So don't buy anything that cures or prevents Blind. You don't need it.

I think so. I do remember buying some relics. But I don't remember which ones, I'll have to re-check that. And about the Blind status effect...good to know.

Okay, time for another progress report. Here's what happened:

I started by re-stocking on items in South Figaro after realizing I need more antidotes. Then it took a while to find my way back to Mt. Kolts, but I made it back. Then the next battle that came was Vargas. Vargas introduced a new move called "Blitz" Which I used a few times. After that it was time to visit the Returner's Room where we I met Banon. At one Banon joined the party and then the next thing I knew, I was riding a raft along a raging river.

That's all for now.

Okay, time for another progress report. Here's what happened:

After going through more of the Lete River, I met up with an octopus boss. It was suggested that during the battle that Banon heals every turn, so I took that into consideration. After the battle came the one bit where you choose a character's scenario. I went with Locke. Took a while to get through until I found out that you must steal clothes from the Merchant and the Officer in order to progress. At that point as I got further I meant Celes. She was great to have around because she has the cure ability which I will use to my advantage. Anyway, next time I play I will begin the next scenario.

That's all for now.

Well, time for another progress report. Here's what happened:

This time was all about Sabin's scenario, which lead me to a few places starting with an Imperial Camp where a bunch of soldiers banded together to try to destroy Figaro Castle (I hope I got that right). After that, I went through the Phantom Forest. Then came finding the engine that stopped the Phantom Train. After that, I went down a big waterfall where I eventually ended up on land. One annoying thing about random battles that came up was this annoying character named Gau. He kept showing up at the end of battles and after one attack, he ran. Next stop on this adventure will be a place called Mobilz.

That's all for now.

Gau is an annoying character. I almost never use him as his monster ability thing is pretty useless for the most part.

Time for another progress report. Here's what happened:

I finally figured out what to do about Gau. It seems you have to buy Dried Meat from Mobilz and feed it to him, and then he joins your party. Then it was off to Crescent Mountain. I was offered the option to hop a ferry. I was a bit nervous about doing this in thinking there'd be a boss battle coming up, but it actually led to the end of Sabin's scenario. Then it was time for Terra's scenario. There wasn't really a lot of detail to go into, but one big thing to mention was defending Banon from Kefka's minions by separating into three party groups. It reminded me of when the groups of moogles defended Terra. This took two attempts to get through, but I did it. Then I came across a big block of ice (I forget the name of it), but it made Terra fly away for some reason.

That's all for now.

Congratulations, you've finished what is basically the first act of the game! The second act is where things get REALLY interesting, as you'll be witnessing one of the most famous scenes in Final Fantasy history, and soon after confront the Empire itself. Oh, and Terra will regain her memory.

Well, time for another progress report. Here's what happened.

I figured out where to go from Narshe. Apparently, I headed back to Figaro Castle. When I saw that castle I was like "Wait a minute, didn't that castle sink a while ago?" Took me a while to realize that you have to have certain members in your party to progress because by having the right party member, you get to see a cutscene. After the cutscene played, then it was time to head to Kohlingen. Where TWO cutscenes were shown. And in one of them I learned that Locke had a possible love interest named Rachel. Next time will be when I find out how all these cutscenes tie into the story line. Oh, and one other thing to note: I found it a bit frustrating that you're required to venture all the way back to Narshe to switch party members. It'd be much easier if could just do that from the menu.

That's all for now.
