I hope people stop complaining as much.

Our opinions of console prices is skewed slightly by the fact that most of those red lines were actually payed by our parents. And the Xbox One is still more expensive than the Xbox 360 launch. =P

I feel bad for anyone that walked out of a store with a CDI thinking it's future would be great.

Dang. The Neo Geo cost that much at launch?

My complaint this generation was never about price.... in fact I kind of wish is was in lue of what is my problem.

Most arcade ports on home consoles at the time were inferior to what you could play on the actual arcade cabinet. The Neo Geo was powerful enough for the complete arcade experiences. And the game cartridges were as large as a DVD jewel case.

200 dollars actually seems reasonable in this day and age.

There was a Neo Geo game in the arcade I used to play a lot because it seemed extremely impressive for the day and age. I can't remember the name of it for the life of me, but you could play as some dude with short hair dressed like Captain Eo, or a guy with a ponytail dressed like Crocodile Dundee, and it was a side-scrolling beat em' up taking place in a mystical land. And when you put it that way, yeah, I guess I can see why the huge price.

I was wondering how much Nintendo dared to ask for the Virtual Boy at first, but I guess it wouldn't be on this list.
