What is Animal Crossing like?

Hm. That's kinda hard! Mainly just a comfy game you can play alone or with friends in which your goal is to maximize town beauty, complete collections in the museum, attain the best house layout for points, and with this game- improve your town as mayor. There are also house upgrades still- those increase house size. This game gives you the largest house of any AC game once fully upgraded.

That being said- you can play the game any way you want. If you just want to fish, you can do that. If you just wanna collect clothes, you can do that. Or, you could just do errands to earn items and bells. That kind of thing goes on and on.

This isn't exactly what your day may be like, but here is a gameplay video of a press version of New Leaf.



In my opinion, this game is shaping up to be the best Animal Crossing game. The details from the first video alone are great for connectivity.

In prior games, you'd have to jump through some hoops(FCs, etc) to get multiplayer going. In this game, you simply use your pre-existing 3DS friend list. You can open your gates, and any of your 3DS friends can hop in your game. This is different from other titles, since you'd have to exclusively invite people at a set time that you would pick with a friend. You can also take this a step further, and become best friends with people in-game. This allows you to message them outside the game, and ask them to open their gates or invite them to your game. This eliminates the need to set up play outside the 3DS.

There's also the feature added just for the US/EU version of the game with the Happy Home Showcase. Instead of Streetpass(it's still there), our versions get Spotpass. What this means is that we will receive random house data from people over WiFi. You can check out the furniture in said houses, and order any item in there. There are also dreams, which allow you to visit a random player's town(ghost data obviously) over WiFi. You can explore their whole town, and check out the layout they made as mayor and get ideas. In the DS version, all we had for random WiFi was pretty much random bottles on the beach with messages. This is overhauled and fantastic. More 3DS games that integrate Streetpass could take a lesson from this and employ Spotpass as well for the US/EU.

I hope this will eventually come to the WiiU, the AC games sell more on handhelds but I get the feeling that AC on the WiiU would give it's library more credibility.

The island is apparently a huge source of money(once you can go there). So excited. I'm getting the digital copy ASAP.

I got some stuff done, but since I was playing in the AM I couldn't do too much but find the bells and furniture in trees, and collect lots of fruit and sea shells.

But yeah, the game is amazing fun so far. In terms of goals, you do have them this time I feel. I mean... I heard some of the Golden Tools are locked behind completing entire collections at the museum. That is by no means an easy feat. And the mayoral projects do cost bank, and that's a deal. Then, you also have the island games(I can't wait to unlock the island!) where you can nab medals for exclusive items from there that you can only get from there.

I forgot to mention- I also restarted several times to get a really good town layout for me. I have my tent overlooking the beach right now, and it is right by the pathway to it. A dream home digitally, but cool nonetheless.

I was also telling PG about Lucky, the mummy-like dog. And then when I was greeted, I realized I had Lucky! So awesome.

Andddddd I'm going to try to nab the player's guide today. I hear it has some really cute art, and a nice checklist.

I'm seriously considering getting a 3DS. (And Animal Crossing too!)
But I'll be studying for 2 weeks in Indiana soon and I doubt I'll have time to take care of my town I'll probably wait until I'm back (July 3rd, and I'll be officially on vacations too!)

So, after doing everything for Isabelle (who is officially mai waifu), my town now has both apples and oranges, and I also paid off my down payment. It kind of stibks that some parts of the game aren't accessible until day two (the island, which you have to have the house to go to), but I guess that just gives me more to do tomorrow.

I will be sure to check out DJ K.K. tonight though, he plays every night of the week except Saturday where he plays as good old K.K. Slider.

Ok, so I remembered I'll spend my birthday on Indiana and decided to get the 3DS anyway as an early present. I turns out I can't buy Animal Crossing set since they were all reserved. I'll have to wait until Tuesday. Oh well. Mario Kart it is for now.

I'm thinking about getting this game. I'm probably gonna purchase it in the eshop tomorrow.

Got the game today. Now I'm the proud mayor of Koralis. I was hoping I'd get one of my old villagers back but oh well.

We should probably get this moved to online, haha. But anyways- the island is amazing as expected. You pay 1,000 Bells to travel there roundtrip, but you can make that back over a hundred times over if you play wisely and gather good stuff. Especially certain insects and fish... and remember to put them in the box back home to sell at Re-Tail. I'm working on getting the Tortimer License(60 Island Tour Mini-Game Medals) thing to play random people online in the island tours.
