Starbound, the successor to Terraria, is now available for pre-order. It looks to be an amazing game.

I just pre-ordered a four pack, so hopefully several of us can get together and play when it comes out.

I feel the need to throw money at my screen! I am so preordering. My addiction to Terraria on the 360 cements my love of the genre. Also plant people. ...and they have a cute red panda sprite. And you get beta for preordering.

Figured this is worth it for the update- recently, there was an AMA for Starbound on Reddit. Lots of info!

Very much confirmed on the forums. Tiy gave some colorblind guy this to help fix issues for colorblind people, colorblind guy gave it to a friend to help, friend got challenged to a duel on 4chan's SB general and leaked this and then promptly freaked out. Idiot takes it to the official forums, confirmed, etc.

Cool part is... so many ores! and it isn't final so more will probably get added.

I am disappointed there's no unobtainium on the list. Maybe if they hit $2 million.

Yeah, it's super exciting. Unobtainium sounds hilarious. These are apparently older, so hopefully even more get added.

The official website has Tiy updating more finally. He just makes dev blog posts it seems. I hope he keeps it up! So far, they've mainly been talking about how they worked the bugs out of shields, and are adding more to the ocean planets with more diverse art and gatherables in those particular planet biomes.

I know that I am going to lose my life to this game. I mean Terraria alone is addicting- this is Terraria on steroids.

For those of you not keeping up with Starbound's development, they've made tons of progress. Looks like it will be released some time around December (not official announcement, just a guess).

But, new feature that they announced yesterday: the ability to play musical instruments in game. Not only can you play them with the keyboard, but you can "program" them using ABC music notation. They're working in the ability to let you sync up your instrument with other players, so you can have in-game bands.

Looks like Starbound is going to be the game to get in a couple months, with tons of replay value. Given the size of the universe is effectively infinite, there may never be a need to stop.
