Hey, guys. Well, last night I finally started playing Chrono Trigger. It was suggested in the MagChat that I make a progress report here in the forums. So, this thread basically discusses my progress for each time I play the game. Now since this is my first time playing the game, I could also use some feedback from you guys.

So, here's my progress from last night:
I played the game for about 20 minutes, but then started to get lost because I have no idea how to earn silver points. So, if there's anyone that can help me out on this, let me know.

Good on ya!

An easy way to get silver points, is to go up a screen(I believe) in the fair, and go left a screen. There should be a robot there, a huge red one you can fight for points. There's lots of minigames at the fair as well(like a drinking game and stuff like that), but they can be annoying... that's just probably my personal preference though.

Hope that helps somewhat. If you're super lost, I usually use GameFAQs and stuff as well. SNES was a golden era on that site, so they have plenty of resources for Chrono Trigger more than likely.

I'm glad you're playing this, Gold. Next to Shining Force this is one of my favorite JRPGs ever. I'm not just saying that.

This game deflected all of my previous problems with JRPGs. Before Chrono Trigger I had a bad mindset about JRPGs that people probably know about. Long quests, boring grinds, anime stories, and anime characters. Chrono Trigger may have some of the tropes and may have started a few but the game is just so great. The battle system, music, all of that. Sometimes you come across a game where everything in it "works". This is one of those games.

What's sad is that I've only played this game on my phone and I still have not defeated the last boss. Instead of finishing it I'm thinking of picking the game up on VC and doing a brand new playthrough.

Its clucking fantastic.

My favorite way to earn quick silver points is to play the hit-the-bell minigame on the lowest screen (the entrance to the fair), towards the left.

By the way, Gold, a word of advice: talk to everyone. You could've figured out how to get silver points on your own if you asked around. If you can't handle aquiring silver points, you're going to get SUPER-lost later on if you don't talk to people. NPCs are your friend.

Silver points can be gained by doing several things at the fair. In the Northwest corner you can fight Gato for 15 of them. You also get a few experience points and some tech points as well. So it's probably the best way to get them. The thing Dray mentioned is located in the southwest. You get one point every time you hit it. In the central area where you met Marle, just a little to the right, there's a drinking game that'll net you 5.

But you don't actually need silver points. It's all optional.

Actually, I wrote a full walkthrough for Chrono Trigger. I've attached it in this post if you are interested in reading.

There should be two or three things you have to do before you can advance right?

Nope, it's all optional. You can talk to Marle, get her pendant, give it to her, talk to a single random NPC in the south area and then you are free to go to Luca's machine after Marle picks out some candy.

All of the fair stuff is just for funzies.

Actually, it determines how the trial goes later in the game. A lot of the stuff you do will affect the outcome of the jury. But you can opt to just not do anything, just don't expect to be found innocent.

I thought you had to get Marle's pendant, talk to Melchior and eat the chicken.

Talking to Melchior is optional. It counts against you if you agree to try and get Marle to sell her pendant. I'm assuming the chicken is the lunch of the old man near Gato. If you eat it, it also counts against you in the trial. Again, all optional.

Okay, well I actually made a bit more progress last night. Here's what happened:

I started from scratch, then found Marle's pendant. Unlike Super Mario RPG, I found it interesting that your allies actually walk with you. So, then I found the teleport machine. After that I ventured to Guardia's Castle to find Marle, but soon she was gone. But before I left the castle, I found Lucca. Then after two battles in Guardia Forest, I was questioned as to how I can recover HP. Well, it turns out I had an item called Tonic which recovers 50 HP.

And that's all I have for now.

There are a few ways to recover HP without a dedicated healer. Right now you can use tonics, but in the Guardia forest, you can find a bush that shakes Not too far from the exit towards the castle. If you check it, a monster will drop a Shelter. These restore all HP and MP at save points. And the best part is, you can leave the forest and come back and get another one. You can do this as many times as you want. If you get a good collection of them, you can just easily heal up at every save point you run across.

There's also sleeping at inns. That'll restore all HP and MP as well... which should go without saying.

By the way, make sure you use spoiler tags when talking about the plot. That's what spoiler tags are for, after all: to avoid spoiling the plot for other people.

Hey, guys.

Here was my progress after playing more Chrono Trigger last night:

So, I did some research and I found where to go after Guardia's Castle. Turns out the next place to go was the Cathedral. Also, I found a new ally named Frog. For a while, I wondered where a Save point was. But I finally found one. I also learned that if anything in your item inventory is yellow, you can use it. But one thing I found unfair was that if you take too long when it's your turn in battle, the enemies attack anyway. Anyway, after going around in circles inside the Cathedral, I eventually called it quits for now. But for the time being, I'll do some more research as to where to go next.

That's because this isn't turn based like Mario RPG. This is what is called active time. It's like real life in the sense that if you are in a fight with someone, they aren't going to wait for you to hit them before they take another swing at you. It's one of the charms of this battle system. You have to keep on your toes. Those as long as you set the battle system to wait, the enemies won't attack you while you are selecting items or techs... but that's the only exception. It's not unfair, it's a gaming mechanic. Anyways, you shouldn't have to do any research. I gave you that walkthrough for a reason. use it.

Also.

It's amazing what you put in spoiler tags compared to what you don't.

When Dray said that, I didn't know that was addressed to me. But now that I do, I know what I must do for future posts in this thread.
