Here's the roundup:

Wii U Virtual Console has FULLY customizable controls.
But why care, you say. The Gamepad will be the only thing you can use with i-
Oh.
Wiimote, Wii U Pro Controller, and Wii Classic Controller... and of course the Gamepad are confirmed to work with Wii U VC controls. And you can map the buttons however you like.

30 cent Wii U shop games promo.

From Jan to July, there will be a new game featured for 30 cents each month. This months's is Balloon Fight, Iwata's creation. To follow in order are F-Zero, Punchout!, Kirby's Adventure, Super Metroid, Yoshi, and Donkey Kong.

Wii Party sequel coming to the Wii U this summer in Japan.

The MiiVerse will be available on phones this Spring!
Now, you may not be too excited unless you have seen this thing, but this is such a smart move. Basically, they're pretty fun forums for various games, and even kind of a general community since both Netflix and Hulu also have boards. It will start out as a browser experience, but will be getting a dedicated smartphone app.

A Yoshi game for the Wii U in the style of Epic Yarn.
Of note! Takashi Tezuka(Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Story) is overseeing the development.

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem announced for WiiU!

As was posted here- The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD remake!
http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/23/wind- ... fall-2013/

Also, as explained in the end of that particular part of the direct, a new Zelda game is also in development.:D

New Mario 3D and Mario Kart announced, and these will be playable at E3.

Wii U Virtual Console finally arriving... the new addition consists of GameBoy Advance Games.

"NES games will run from $5 to $6, while Super Nintendo games will run from $8 to $9. However, users who already own a particular NES or SNES game for the Wii Virtual Console will be able to pick up its Wii U counterpart for $1.00 or $1.50, respectively. "

There's also a couple more problems. The first being that quote. The second, that the entire Wii Virtual Console lineup of various consoles and games will not be fully there on day one of the Wii U VC. Not even every NES or SNES title will be there from the beginning. They also seem to not be keen on lowering prices anytime soon, which, buh. Most old-school games on XBLA, for example, cost 400 MS Points, or roughly $5.

In total, I think that was a pretty darn good Direct. There's also the fact that the Directs happen so frequently, and actually reveal lots of news overall, but spread it out moreso. You'd think they would've waited til E3 for some of this news, but I guess that's just not their style.

Things I'm personally excited about:
-New VC controls, with a controller proper being compatible
-MiiVerse on phones? Cool.
-The Wonderful 101. Cool!
-New Xeno-Universe game. Awesome.
-Bayonetta 2. Yum.
-Yoshi's Epic Yarn... I'd get it. I really like Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story, and I feel this yarn style would've fit Yoshi better in the first place.
-Wind Waker HD? Yes, please.
-MARIO KART MARIO KART MARIO KART PLAYABLE WITH THE PRO CONTROLLER THIS WOULD BE AMAZING I LOVE MARIO KART AND WILL FACE DOWN THE WHOLE MAG

Negative... only the Virtual Console. While the controls are a step forward, and playable gamepad versions... people shouldn't have to pay to upgrade. Some of these prices shouldn't be so expensive. Everything from the Wii should've been available, since it's already there. No mention of Gamecube VC titles yet, and half the console categories are missing for now, too. They should've waited to announce this I feel, until they had at least something from each console.

Also, you can't forget to mention that Japanese WiiU VC is getting Mother 2, while we are getting jack sh*t.

Nintendo brought some of that heat with this ND, for real.

But with the VC thing, if they're gonna spend the time to make them work on WUVC, then WHY NOT MAKE IT WITH NETPLAY FOR f*cks SAKE.

I'm kinda over getting Mother 2. Really, we can all blame The Who and crap.:P I just kinda found a general roundup.

But, the netplay thing is a super valid point. *facesmashpalm*

Oh, man, my WiiU is very happy right now.

All of this information already justifies my purchase. In fact, knowing that TWO Zelda games are coming out gets rid of any regret I had buying the WiiU.

I'm super stoked for the WiiU VC. Eh, I really don't care about the netplay feature, I've done too much of that on Zsnes.

Wait wait wait.... they want you to pay for the same game on Virtual Console again? Who cares if it is at a discounted price! If they can somehow detect that you've already bought it once, you should be able to just grab it for free. You know, if WiiU had netplay with VC, I would be glad to pay for them... even a second time, because I would at least be gaining the ability to play online with my friends.

Also, not a lot of this was very impressive. The most interesting thing on here was the trailer for Bayonetta 2. But that had already been a game announced a long time ago. Why they are going to make an Epic Yawn of Yoshi is beyond me. In if they think I'm going to pay Tinkle an unnecessarily large chunk of money to translate maps in HD, they got another thing coming. What I do need to do is get some Fire Emblem experience under my belt so that I could properly appreciate the FE x SMT game...

So, Balloon Fight is available for less than a dollar on the WiiU's VC. You can customize the controls, create a save state, and do other simple options. I admit playing this with the GamePad feels weird. I see myself being really picky about this. I bought Super Punch out a few weeks ago, am I up for buying it AGAIN just to play it on the gamepad? Yes. It depends on the game.
