There was a drama on FOX about solving crime. It was called Killer Instinct. It lasted 9 episodes and was cancelled. FOX has it trademarked as Entertainment on TV.

Rare tried to renew it as Entertainment on Video Games.


Apparently the consumers would be confused and believe that the two things are from a single source, so they denied the renewal.

This is stupid.

So I just spent like 5 minutes typing out how stupid this really was. But it wasn't anything that anyone else is already thinking. I guess you really can't say anymore than:

This only happened because they weren't maintaining their trademark. Had they not let the domain name registration fall off, Fox wouldn't have got their foot in the door on the trademark.

It's their own fault. Let that be a lesson to people wanting to maintain their trademark holdings.

The fact that they can no longer use the name "Killer Instinct" even though they still own copywrites on games CALLED "Killer Instinct" is pretty stupid. Just to spite Fox, they should dedicate a section of their site to retro Killer Instinct.
