Infult posted this in the Magchat, and I thought I'd post this in here. No, it may not be what you think.

Of particular interest (for me at least) is the boss theme.

Quote:
"Picking a track that is most meaningful for me is like having to choose my favorite child. I had put in a lot of time and labor, and I raised it with great care before I released it to the world as a finished piece.

That being said, if I had to choose one song on this CD, I would have to choose "Danger." This track is packed with elements that best show what is characteristic of the music of Seiken Densetsu 2. It's shocking, dramatic, and shakes up your emotions. Even among the fans, this is the song that they will recall first. If I didn't polish this song with great care and produce a track that is just as dazzling as, if not more than, the memories of the fans, I would've considered this CD to be a failure.

I had put in a lot of time and work -- it actually took me an entire week just to pick the right tone for the snare drum -- and I am proud to say that it became a wonderful piece well worth all of the efforts put into it."

Ironically or some such word, I thought the boss theme was the second-worst track in the game, after the battle against Thanatos. So, does the remix sound better?

Remix:

A little.

Awesome! I love that the Mana composers are still working on their stuff in different ways. This rocks.

Yoko Shimomura(she did Legend of Mana, as well as a couple other games) also included some of her LoM tracks with an actual orchestra on a personal CD. Jeremy Soule also still fondly remembers his first VG soundtrack(Secret of Evermore), and heck, that had orchestrated versions of songs right on the OST back in the 90s. He's a huge supporter of OC Remix now.

Now for David Wise to maybe release an arrangement of some DKC music... yeah buddy! He's done one song that I know of so far, and that was for OCR's Donkey Kong Country 2 Serious Monkey Business album.:)

And as for my favorite SoM track... gosh so many good ones.

This isn't re-arranged or anything, but every time. ;-;

As for from the arranged tracks:

As to why on my SoM picks- I think the interview puts it best.

It's a bit difficult to explain what the intent was in doing so. But if you could imagine this: Have you ever listened to a song during your childhood and been moved by it, and as you recalled that music in your mind throughout your life, that song became more and more beautiful to the point of becoming something much different than the original piece? Actually, the same thing happens in the hearts of fans that love this videogame music. The people who had played Seiken Densetsu 2 in their childhood remember the beautified version of the score. Different emotions and real-life incidents in their childhood are projected onto the score, and it becomes something more dazzling than the original.

This is it so exactly! When I was a kid, my best times were calmer moments really. Bedtime stories, sharing tea at night with my little sister, laying in bed and dreaming up what I'd be doing the next day... and of course one of my favorite things to do in summer was watching fireworks at night, or even just sitting outside and watching stars. Good stuff. I love music that kinda makes me remember that, the soundtracks of my life as a kid being those mainly from my SNES RPGs. I love ambient and ethereal music because of that period in my life.:)

Heh, I bought this day one, and have loved it.

It's not so much a remix as it being the original song that sounds slighty better and has better balance. I'd recommend picking it up, it's great.

Oh, and the boss battle theme is the greatest. No question. But the opening theme is my favorite.

I said in the chat that this might be the best thing to ever enter my ears. This is what a remaster of something should be, don't give me your OC Remixes and your dubstep remixes, just give me updated sounds and sound quality.
