There are indie games that take an approach towards old-school gaming, imitating old sprites and sounds. Retro City Rampage, however, feels retro and it captures the idea perfectly. This is a GTA-style game with a ton of references to the old games I enjoyed. Sonic's shoes, Skate or Die, and even the dog from duck hunt.

It had me grinning the whole time, even at the title screen. And when I discovered the option to alter the game's color palette to imitate old-school consoles, thats when I fell in love. Changing everything to Virtual Boy red-and-black might seem like a distraction during gameplay--it sorta is--it perks up the experience. Seriously, there's an option to have the game look like the Gameboy and you can even select a Gameboy-border similar to the Gameboy player. GAMEBOY!!!

Its fifteen bucks, a lot of gamers are usually cautious around that sorta price tag. I highly recommend this game...if you're not devoting your time to other games that is.
