Jim Sterling's views are enough for a topic in of itself. He clearly explains why there's a want for piracy, or even simply homebrew.

Next, we go to http://yifan.lu/ to see what he has been working on. Yifan Lu is working on a user mode loader based on a recent exploit. The homebrew nations have begun rallying. Over at Wololo.net they are gear up for some vita homebrew projects http://wololo.net/2012/09/05/usermode-vita-loader-devs-needed/

Being that it is a "user mode" loader, that means nothing encrypted will be able to run. So no pirated Vita games.

But that's a good thing. The Vita is too young for that.




It will, however, allow things such as SNES emulators, homebrew games and apps, possibly unencrypted/signed versions of PSP games, MAYBE PSOne ISOs/eboots. It is too early to tell, but it should at the very least allow for homebrew games and apps from what I can see.

This should increase Vita sales once it gets rolling. I'll be buying one sooner now that I originally planned.
