Who didn't fall in love with the characters of X? I mean, you can't say 'Wakka' without thinking about some wavy haird dude throwing a blitzball at stuff. Or Lulu without thinking about... well... >______> you know.

I have a hard time not feeling all Final Fantasy-ish when I fight a bomb... or summon Bahamut... or listen to the theme... or cast ultima... or even use a pheonix down.

Who said anything about not liking the characters of FFX?

And I take back what I said. They do feel like Final Fantasy, but they also feel like something different and fresh compared to FF1-9. I'm certainly not complaining; I'm just pointing out my opinion. And actually, every time I boot up FF12, the Final Fantasy feeling is in full effect as it starts off with a choir-accompanied Prelude and ends at the title screen with a fully orchestrated Final Fantasy theme. Though speaking of which, Final Fantasy's theme was completely missing in FFX, and Prelude was remixed to a more upbeat version that you hardly paid any attention to. That is something I'm gonna complain about.

I think the only way Squenix would really go over the top is if they made some damned football game and named it Final Fantasy.

I dunno, Blitzball came pretty close. :P

...Wait, Bahamut isn't in FF12? NOOOOOOO!

I think characters have a big deal to do with the game personally... but if I missunderstood you, then I appologize.

Personally, I don't really care what they do with the series if they're quality pieces. They could rename it Chin-Chin's Pornographic Escapades and I'd beat it if it was a quality bit.
Assuming I actually owned a system or played games anymore.

P.S.
I'd suggest reading Jay as Vincent and Kaja as Jules.

Aside from Cids, Chocobos, and Moogles, I don't think Final Fantasy hold claim over certain character types. Sure, the games generally have awesome characters in them, but who's to say there isn't a Zidane or an Auron lurking in games that aren't Final Fantasy?

You would so not play a game if it had a title like that.

Oh, but you forget the recently added Bangaa and Viera.

And the second you find Auron in another game outside of FF... you let me know.

*shrug*

I'm as likely to play that as I am a series with no apparent end that is declaring its finality with each new title.
I've really got no standards for anything apart from whether or not it amuses me.

In all likelihood I'd investigate more thoroughly into the game because of a title like C-CPE (Full Throttle).

ummm.. and the Aegyl, Baknamy, Burmecian, Cactuar, Clavat, Galka, Guado, Kuluu, Mithra, Qu, Tarutaru, Tonberry, and Zilart.

And there are several others. Lol. Although honestly... Most of these can just be classified as other things. Bangaa are just lizardmen. And Viera are just bunny people. But hey. They at least have cool names now.

Not Auron specifically. Just a character like Auron. You know, a cool guy with much battle experience and knows what the heck is going on.

And yeah, Final Fantasy does have some very specific races, just like they have some very specific job classes. Though aside from FFTA and FF12, about the only race to make common appearances throughout the series are Moogles. Most other races are exclusive to a single game in the series.

Kajak, most of those you named I would consider monsters, since most of the time you fight them. I guess one could consider some like the Tonberry a race, but other than that. The Bangaa and Viera seem exclusive to the FFTA/12 universe.

Well most of the specific races are only in their specific games. Galka, Mithra, Tarutaru, for example are only in 11.

Just saying that there are a lot of very unigue races that Square (and I guess Squenix) have coined. But even for all the uniqueness you still have the familiar things ;)

Yet, they still ar FF centered. I doubt you will find any of those outside of FF...

This is true.

Wait, who brought up the races, again? I thought we were talking about character archtypes.

Yeah, except including non-FF games.

Oh, if this puts your mind at rest Bahamut does make an appearance in FF12. Well. Sort of. Bahamut is the name of the Air Fortress which is the place you face the final boss.

I probably could've guessed, considering the airships Ifrit, Shiva, and Leviathan.

I just beat FF12 last night (with some difficulty *glares at Kajak*).

Over all, it's honestly a great game.

Lantis' final rating: 8/10

OMG?! Why did I get a glare?! I didn't make your game freeze after you beat the final boss :)

I also give it an 8/10...could have been higher...but noooooo. ;)

I'm just messin with you... sheesh.

You sure are quick to pick up the defencive.

>______>

Oh well, I got to see the ending... that's all that matter.
Though, I would have liked to see Fran and Balthier before the credits rolled. I mean, Ashe getting her ring back and the Strahl being missing is more than enough to know they are, in fact, alive... but I would have liked a little more closure. I mean, when the game ended Ashe wasn't even crowned queen yet... it was due to happen a week later.
But that's not that big of deal, honestly. I still think it's wonderful.

*major bumpness*

I just got FF12 today and I'm like 2 hours into it. A few first impressions:

- Oh my God! It's Star Wars!!
- Wait... the story is actually from Lord of the Rings.
- Oh no. Another empire. The Empire Strikes Back.
- Hey, all the main characters have emo hairstyles. Except the one that dies at the intro. Greeeeeat.
- Yuna, go away. Asche, make yourself at home.
- Oh my God! IT'S STAR WARS!!

LOL Yeah I'm with you all the way on that one man. Even the new fighting style with all the lines reminds me of lightsabers. XD
