I've played throught FF Chronicles CT enough... it's not bad at all. The load times are not horrible and the music isn't noticably out of sync.

The only problem I noticed was the sound effects were quite diffrent. I mean, they sort of sound like the originals, but you can tell a distinct diffrence.

Yeah, the load times in Chrono Trigger don't really annoy me anymore. They couldn't be, if I was able to play as far in as the mountain with the character doll and complete almost everyone's subquests. It's just a little wowing to see a video of Chrono Trigger on the SNES and see the battles start almost instantly.

Speaking of sound effects, I noticed that FF4's sound effects were hurt, too. Here I thought that FF4's music and sound effects were perfectly ported, but then I watched a few videos of its SNES version and the sound effects were much softer. Can't tell any difference in the music, though.

You can never really tell exactly what's going to get crapified with ports... but there's always going to be SOMETHING...

*plays up through the first boss in Chrono Trigger*

Yeah, really no reason for me to get the SNES game. I really can't tell much difference between the music in the PS1 version and the song I downloaded (if any), and the anime cutscenes are just too cool. Especially about halfway through the game when...

That video is of the game running on an emulator. emulators are pretty well-known for screwing up sound.

Don't spoil FF6's ending! Puhleeease.

I've been playing FF6 for like, 5 years, and haven't even reached the part when
the world collapses
yet (that spoiler is so obvious... damn).
It's the same with FFX, it was my first PS2 game and I've been playing it for, yes, about 5 years too. But in FFX I'm just stuck in the Ultimate Weapons freakin' minigames (WHY, SQUARE, WHY?!).

I'm a slow player =)

No. That spoiler isn't so obvious. It's probably one of the biggest surprise twists that can be found in the series, and it needs to be spoiler-tagged like any other spoiler.

Alright. Sorry. My mistake.
But it IS obvious to anyone who did even the slightest research about the game. I did it. And I don't mean 'read walkthrough until the very end', but just the slightest research.
Meh. Damn spoiling people out there.

I'm kinda glad I didn't have enough internet time to read about what happens with the game back when I first played it. About the only thing I was able to learn about it was there was some opera or something and there was a "birth" scene in it of some sort. And that the story was rather dark. It wound up being a choice between FF4 and FF6 (or rather, FF2 or FF3, since this was before Anthology and Chronicles). It's only luck that my grandparents decided on getting me the latter. Anyway, that scene was so awesome when I first saw it. Awesome enough that I left the save at the boss before it so I could show it off later.

I can't remember anything about a 'birth', but I'm still rather early in the game (before that spoiler up there ^^).

But the opera, oh man, that gave me goosebumps all the way through. I mean, that girl actually DID sing those lyrics! Creepy...

Well, I wouldn't call it "singing" per se, but it's probably better than if it was nothing but music with text. The synthetic "oooh"-ing gives it more feeling.

If you've already reached the opera, then you've seen the "birth" deal. It was talking about what happens in Terra's flashback. Not just the birth, but the details involved with it.

<shame>
I said before... I'm such a slow player, I never remember the important things that happen... Damn.
But I'm too lazy to restart the game because I went through the trouble of training until each character had all the available magic.

I personally think it's fine. If I want the original, my PC is here. Shoot, I can't believe I'm going to buy it... but portable FFVI is TOO good to pass up.

I've never played FFVI. Is it any good, and what separates it from the other games in the series?

Hellish good plot.
And good characters.
And good concept.
And good graphics.
And great music.
And a great setting.

Think of an almost-traditional RPG filled with cliches and not very innovative, but with every aspect of it done masterfully.

That's what I think, anyway.
