And my latest bit of helpful advice:

For the auction house:
There are two pieces of Magicite that you can buy there, but they appear at random. IIRC, you'll need a total of 25,000 GP for both.

For Tsen:
It's north of Vector and basically in the northern-center point of the southern continent. If you want something good, take 10,000 GP and look for a hidden merchant.

Now that I found Tzen, it's time to forge on. Here's what happened:

So, apparently the only reason for heading to Tzen was for a Magicite. But now comes the primary focus of this progress report. It took place in a cave with three basements. The bridge puzzles in Basement 2 took a while to figure out. But then comes the cutscene where Terra almost opened a gate. Just as she was about to do this, Kefka comes out of nowhere and later the gate gets locked. So the only way to go was back out of the cave.

You're on the right track for plot advancement.

Time for another progress report. Here's what happened:

We begin by heading for Imperial Castle where we were sent to see the emperor. At one point, a clock starting at 4 minutes count down. Though I didn't catch what I was supposed to do within the allotted time. But the main focus of the progress report is the emperor's feast. It is here where Kefka's fate was decided. Then from that point on, it was mostly more battles.

That's all for now.

During that time you needed to talk to as many soldiers around the palace as possible. That number and your answers during the banquet yield a fair amount of goodies for your team.

Time for another progress report. Here's what happened:

This time we begin in Albrook where a two cutscenes occured: One takes place aboard a ship and another takes place in Locke's dream where Celes wouldn't speak to him for some unknown reason. After that, we boarded the ship again to head off to a different island. Jumping ahead to Thamasa where we're first considered strangers upon entering. But this is where I got to meet Strago and Relm. And finally comes a point where Relm gets trapped in a house fire and it was up to Terra and Locke to save her. The farthest I got to was the boss fight in the burning house where I think I may know the tactic of the fight, but I still ended up losing. But I'll try again next time.

That's all for now.

You're definitely at one of the harder parts of the game if you're not prepared. Upgrading your equipment and having a lot of ice magic is your friend.

And since you're coming up to a point where a lot of people make a common mistake the first time they play through the game I'll say this without being spoilery: "Wait."

Time for another progress report. Here's what happened:

This time we begin by defeating the source of the burning house and rescue Relm. Then after a cutscene, we go to a nearby cave where we learn more about the Espers and then fight Ultros. It is there we Relm joins the party. Jumping back to Thamasa where Kefka successfully captured the Espers and made them Magicites (I guess Kefka is one of those enemies that just doesn't go away). With this in mind, I'm guessing our quest is defeat Kefka and free the Espers.

That's all for now.

I'm going to re-emphasize this. In the dungeon that you're about to chase Kefka into, you will be given a choice at some point where one of the options is to "Wait". Choose to wait, and then sit there and do nothing until the game continues on its own. Doing this will allow you to find an extra character to join your team later on.

You'll enjoy what's coming up next. One of the coolest parts of the game.

Also the hardest. So there's that.

Hardest in the first half of the game, true. The hard ones in the second half are a bit more subjective courtesy of how much preparation is done beforehand.

There's a good chance I may have screwed up on that somehow. I don't really know. Anyway, here's what happened:

Basically this took place on that aircraft where you're allowed to choose your party members. I chose Terra, Celes, and Locke because I figured with so many battles in a row I'd need at least two healers. But there was this one battle that took place in midair which made me wonder "Is it really that big of a drop to the ground?" Luckily I got through all those battles and found a good Save point afterwards. And on that note, I am now halfway done with the game.

That's all for now.

No, you haven't reached the "Wait" moment, yet.

Also, how do you know you're halfway through the game?

Because there is this YouTube user named SaikyoMog who made this 4 part walkthrough of the game. And this very event happened at the end of Part 2.

Time for another progress report.

So I decided to take Dray's advice and not use that YouTube walkthrough for once. As it turns out for the one section I was working on (The Floating Continent), I didn't really need it. Because it was mostly battling and navigating through a maze to find your way back to the ship. I will admit, that some of the enemies made me rather nervous, I ended up using more Magic than Physical attacks. Anyway, I made it through the Floating Continent once, but then somehow I accidently chose to go back. I probably should've chosen Lift-off when I had the chance. Oh, well. I'll remember that for next time.

That's all for now.
