You'd think they'd at least go through the effort of taking that out. And yeah, too short. Waiting for the game to be finished before I get it.

Other than all that you mentioned, how is the actual game?

HARD.

The difficulty seems to be on the same level as the PS1 version of FF4. That is, first dungeon is laughably easy, and then things suddenly start becoming more of a challenge. Bosses hurt pretty bad if you don't know what to do. And you'll be healing a lot. I died once when I got back-attacked by a turtle. Took me down in two hits. You'll be healing a lot, trust me. Oh, and you'll be back-attacked a lot, too. I was under the impression I was under-leveled throughout a lot of the game. If levels affect that sort of thing. Then again, there were plenty of cases where I was given the pre-emptive, too.

Along with the Band feature (the team-up attacks), it also introduces a moon feature, where the four phases of the moon will affect your abilities of Attack, White Magic, Black Magic, and Non-Magic abilities (ie, Kain's Jump). For example, the full moon weakens regular attacks but strengthens black magic. It sounds like a good way to add strategy, but unfortunately it affects all your enemies in the same way, so while you may be dishing out more damage during a full moon, so will the monsters. Honestly, I would've rather they left the feature out. I'd say, ignoring the whole episodic content deal, it's this game's weakest link.

The story is suspenseful. The first dungeon isn't exciting, but just like in FFIV, it starts picking up pretty fast. But then slows down again, until Kain becomes playable. Then it becomes confusing. And then starts making some sense again as you get closer to the climactic end to the first episode.

There's a few new dungeons along the way. Plus several dungeons you remember from the old game, and it kinda feels nice to be going through them, knowing where the secret exits and treasures are. Break from the new stuff.

The music is straight from FF4. Which version of FF4, not sure, either the GBA version or the DS version. There was only one new song so far, tied to the game's new mysterious antagonist. I don't mind, though, 'cause FF4's music is still good.

The online instructions list the episodes and the flow of content, when everything's going to be released. This and the second episode now, three episodes and the start of July, three more at the start of August, and the final episode in September. Looking at the flowchart, all the episodes between the first and last aren't necessary. You could skip all those other ones if you wanted to, or you could play only certain ones, and in any order. Which pretty much means to me that none of the plots (including in the main game) will be properly concluded until the final episode. Even if you wait until all the episodes are going to be released, there's still going to be that gap between the first and last episode wondering what happens next, until after you're done playing through whichever of the in-between episodes you wanted to play. It's not a continuous story. Hopefully, though, they won't pull an Odin Sphere with the other episodes.

I think that's about it. Maybe I said a little too much, maybe not. Some of this will be discussed in the LP I'm making for it.

I see... well, just know that I probably won't set myself down to watch them till after I play it myself... which won't be till it's done releasing.

I just completed the first part, and man, was it fun. pretty challanging, pretty much all Dray said is true. Except the music sounds like it is from the PS1 version. I''m going to download Rydia's tale after I get home from the SATs tomorrow.

Nah, music is definately GBA version. The music that plays when the moon appears is louder than the version that plays on the PS1 game. It only sounds better than the GBA version because it's on more powerful hardware. It's certainly not the DS version, because the town theme in the DS version had an extra piece that's absent from what I'm hearing in FFIV-2.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to go get this after I finish one of the other games I'm playing at the moment. I look forward to this. Seems like they came out a bit earlier than expected... wasn't it suppose to be later?

Nope. Two chapters in June, three in July, three in August, and the last this month. In the beginnings.
