Back to the discussion at hand; I think that this would be an interesting expirament. the only problem is that the Wiimote is indeed a fragile thing and as a gammer on a limmited budget, I can see why it would be less than desireable to launce one of those things at a TV-- good or otherwise. But if there were a group of people out there with large expence budgets, and perhaps some type of TELEVISON SHOW that would be willing/able to bear the monetary burden of an exploding TV/Wiimote, I think that I would be more than willing to see if under laboritory conditions and normal use, the strap is the actual problem here. Now, who do we know that has all those things?....hmmm....

Well, I've been letting my 5-year-old cousin play, if that helps. Surprisingly, she knows what she's doing. She has a high score of 180-something in Wii Sports Bowling. And the controller has only left her hand once. I've got the slim strap, and it didn't break.

Which is fixed since Nintendo is replacing the straps for free.

Well its not entirely free, you'll have to pay a little shipping charge to send it in. I wonder if that wii controller will be used as a murder weapon since it breaks tvs.

wrong. Give nintendo your Wii Serial Number (to prove you have a console) and they'll send you up to 4 straps free.

4 straps? What, do they expect you to break at least 3?

I think people who use Wii puns should be killed by the Wii controllers.

Really people shouldn't have to rely on the strap to keep the controller in control. If your that much of an idiot to swing your controller wildly, you deserve to get your TV broken. No one ever broke their TV with 64, Cube, PS2, Xbox, or any other controller. Why? Because people realized you have to hold onto them (even if they didn't realize turning the controller didn't make you turn better in racing games).

Seriously, how does a Wiimote just slip out of your hand. How dumb can you be to put that much force behind the swing, and then not have a firm grip on it.

Also anyone considering this a downside to the Wii definitely has their priorities for a system very backwards. Last I checked maybe 5% of the PS3 launch is worth buying, meaning about 3 games. I've played it, and honestly was not that impressed, though I do realize it will be a while before there are games to take full advantage of having 7 small processors to work with. Still waiting for one of my friends to get a Wii so I can try that.

You are very correct, my good sir.

And I will also agree that PS3 doesn't have many good titles out right now, which is probably the one reason I don't have one. But I will have one by the time DMC, FF, and RE come out... gosh darnit.

I don't think it's that they don't have a tight enough grip. It's more that they loosen their grip. When one plays real-life bowling for example, you generally let go of the ball. You don't do that with the Wiimote, but that doesn't mean a person can't absent-mindedly let loose when they play Wii Sports Bowling. The remote almost left my hand a couple times, though I was able to tighten my grip back up before it left all the way.
