I don't know I always thought the pressure sensitivity on the PS2 was fine. Of course I played Ace Combat a lot and thet used it on almost every button. With square, how hard you held it in determined how much your radar zoomed (there were 5 levels (with interpolation between them)), and two of the shoulder buttons controlled throttle, and the other two controlled the rudder (yaw anyone). So I thought they were very responsive and offered a fair amount of sensitivity. I hated the GameCube shoulder buttons because of how far you had to push them, and how big they were as a result. I had trouble making them goto full pressure sometimes so I think that's a bigger drawback in my opinion. The XBox ones were better but all I know is after playing Red Dead Revolver and having to hold the L button in the whole time during a match, my left index finger would start hurting a lot. Never really had too many discomfort problems with the PS2, or GameCube controller (though I really don't like the GameCube one).

Plus the PS2 is the only controller I felt I could comfortably reach all the buttons at all times, as the white black buttons were normally just out of reach of your thumb and so required repositioning the thumb. So out of all the last gen ones I think the dual shock had the best combination of comfort and usability.

Just my 2 cents.

Oh I'm not saying it didn't work, 'cause it did. I don't know how. Such a small distance to push them in. But that's my problem. Buttons like that, I'm used to either them being on or off, with no in-between, and it seems better that analog buttons be reserved as shoulder buttons, where having the buttons sticking out a good half-inch or so (a seemingly more suitable distance for analog control) wouldn't look so funny.

And I actually went and tested my controllers. The Controller S (which personally is my fave controller so far), I had to reposition my thumb some to reach the Black and White buttons. Even with the GameCube controller I had to move it slightly to get the C-Stick in reach. PS2, no extra reaching involved.

That doesn't surprise me. Can you imagine trying to play those games using the Nunchuk controller? Besides, I'm sure a lot of people will be buying it anyway, just so they can play the more traditional games (like Smash Bros Brawl) more traditionally.

I just like the fact that you can do just about everything Sony has to offer wtih no more than 2 controllers.

The pressure-sensitive buttons are almost useless.

I have to diagree, In Gran Turismo I have developed the skill to maintian a certain amout of preasure to maintain a constant speed. And in Socom how hard you press a button determines how far you will throw a greanade. I thouhgt that was a pretty damn inventive idea.

Yeah, I found out about it in Gran Turismo 3. But I pretty much just jammed down the button. Except when I wasn't, and found myself not going as fast because I was unknowingly letting off the pressure on the button too much. And it worked well in SOCOM, yes. I just wish the button actually looked analog. 'Cause if you can see that the button is analog, that means there's plenty of distance between no pressure and full pressure, and you're less likely to have trouble applying just the right amount of pressure.

But it's a stupid complaint, anyway.

so what you are saying is you wish the buttons stuck out more.

Valid complaint I guess.

There is ONE bad thing about the PS controller (well dual shock anyway):

Does any one else go through them puppies like water? I must have 5 or 6 kicing around my house, wher the only thing wrong with them is the left analog stick won't register a particular angle being swiveled to, or the triangle buttong is shot or the X button (or both). I swear, I had a NES for 10 years and not once did I have to buy a new controller for that thing.

There is news on the ps3's controller. Sony will replace the controller after the batteries are dead but you won't be needing to replace one because the batteries can last up to several years. I'll post the link when I find it.

@Staffy - Holy shiz, dude. I have 3. I bought 2. The second one I bought was so I could play Mortal Kombat and Burnout with friends. The third was a wireless just cause I wanted it.

You must be a rough gamer... :P

@Hell Hunter - you do realize that the PS3 controllers are rechargeable... right? (hence the usb connections)

I've had two PS2 controllers. The one I got in 2002 (with my first PS2), the controller cord broke somehow a few years back. The one I got with my newer PS2 is still okay. Though I'm under the suspicion that something's wrong with the rumble. Only game the rumble seems to work on is RPGM2. It feels so odd playing games with no rumble. You sorta get used to it, and then it's gone. But I digress.

I've had more problems with GameCube controllers, actually. Thanks in part to Mario Kart, the right shoulder button clicks is loose, causing me to suddenly fall out of a power slide (or fail altogether at starting it), which usually results in me running into a wall or going off the road. And this being on almost all my controllers (I have four). My black controller's C-stick I think jams, because a lot of times the stick registers as tilted in random directions even though the stick is sitting on neutral. As much as I prefer GameCube's controller over PlayStation's (GCs fits in my hands like a glove), no other controller I've used has given me as much trouble. The C-stick problem is just a fluke, I'm sure, but the shoulder-clicks wasn't as good an idea as Nintendo might've thought.

He's referring to once the Internal rechargable battery dies completely (or stops holding a charge) You will have to send your controller in to Sony (Much like you send an iPod to apple for battery replacement) Or buy a new controller outright.

So Sony's started advertising for the PS3.

You have a white room with a baby doll and a PS3 sitting across from each other. The baby doll makes funny noises, cries and uncries, as images of PS3 games show up in its eyes. But you can't see those images even on a 42" TV. And I know this because I saw it on a 42" TV. Last, the baby doll starts levitating the PS3 a bit.

I had no idea what was going on.

It was on Fox. Alas, I can't find a video of it online yet. The end logo was odd, too. It looked sora like this:

Wow... so many.

And from so many awesome companies. Check out all the RPG titles.

(btw, I looked for that comercial on youtube with little success. I'll keep a lookout though.)
