SE cannot into MMOs. I get that they want balanced server pops, but they could at least give me a code to hand out to friends.

Just got this last night through PSN. I'm going to give a spin tonight to get a feel for the game. I'll be available all day on Monday, so let's do some Final Fantasy, peeps.

Quick notes!

Early Access isn't going too swimmingly. Maintenances have been more frequent and often than during the last beta phase. The instance servers have been down a lot, and those pertain to any sort of dungeon you do.

SE has stated that they want people to just "re-roll" to be with their friends. I love you guys, and I also really like the server I am on. I have a feeling the server will pop back up 1-2 weeks after release when the MMO hoppers all go back to WoW to play the final raid boss of the expansion there. The servers actually are not full in terms of character storage, but are having problems with simultaneous logins. This is also stupid because... well a queue system works fine. HOWEVER- if this all does not work out- I will pay for transfers for you two in order for us to play together. This way you won't lose progress, and all that stuff. We'll see how it works out. Like I said, the MMO hoppers are currently just hitting the game hard. That's kinda why I'm not compromising my server since I feel like a lot of the other ones will become ghost towns regardless of how SE tries to force this.

Anyways- I'm not quitting the game or anything, but I just wanted to make it known what is going on. I really do think they are ruining first impressions of their game to the public, but whatever. The problems are mainly from the crowd that flies like a pestilence from WoW, then to Rift, then to SWTOR, then to Guild Wars 2, and now this. And they always go on about games being WoW killers and yet always come back to WoW. I imagine these are also the same people complaining that FFXIV is "grindy and hard"(which it totally is not, hahahaahahah) in the general chats of zones.

I'm actually loving my server, everyone is super freaking nice, and I haven't seen many people complaining about any of the instance bugs.

And on my side, the instance bugs haven't been bothering me at all, since, as of right now, the only instances I've had to go into were for 4 storyline quests, which, I got into all of them with little hassle.

It's always been my kind of style to play MMOs on less populated servers, and this is exactly why.

If I had to name the one thing that's really bothered me so far, it's the fact that at level 15, my character looks like this when wearing his best armor.

Apparently that armor was in FFXI, too. Leather wearers... I tell you.

Well, I can't get in the game. They choked logins and Faerie is also locked down now to new characters. Bogus/10. I was thinking of just moving to Faerie, too. I don't know. It seemed nicer for getting things like hunting logs done. But man ughhh

A note- right after you get your game registered, be sure to get an authenticator on there. Free app for both iOS and Android, called "Square Enix Software Token". I have mine set up already. You can add it on the account page.

Basically, they did not expect so many people to play and decided to not chance it just to close servers down. They've seen the numbers however, and are increasing both server capacity and the number of worlds. Character creation is locked based on the number of current connections, and the fear was that starting zones would be too overloaded to handle it.

The even better news is that everyone is getting more playtime added to the month free trial. Good stuff.

Lots of good news. Crowded servers are still crowded, but for the more normal-level servers like Faerie... I didn't even have a queue when I logged in today. Concurrent user cap is now about 7500-8000 instead of 5000. Stuff is working! Also, every game account has had trial time extended by 7 days.

I'm working on the story quest some and leveling other classes. I really love that it feels more rewarding to cross-class skills. It really reminds me of some of the Tactics games from the series. SO NICE.

I only wish Pugilist was more relevant to Dragoon. We can only cross-class Archers and Marauders. Well, and Lancers but that is boring and obvious. I think I am going to try Archer next since I already got Marauder to 15. I really enjoy tanking, but sometimes people are idorts with it. Then again, I've only done two lower-level Guildhests... like I have to get enmity on two groups of monsters in the first Guildhest, then a giant STAY-OUT shadow ground effect spawns next wave where the new monsters are. I have had so many DPS just try to stand in front of me. All my why.

Edit: Nevermind, I am an idort on the skills. It appears I can use Pug skills. So confused. I think they relaxed the things from the original FFXIV, hence internet confusion.
