So I visited the Terraria page on FB!

"We've got some great pre-Christmas news… Online and offline multiplayer is confirmed and will be easier than ever before! The console version will support 8 players online at once...and local split-screen will be up to 4 players! (HD Only)"

YAHOOOOOO. 8 freaking players. I think it's like 16 on the PC version, but I'll take 8.

That, and I just found like 3 Magic Mirrors in my new world within 15 minutes.:P

My sister was playing this game on her PC for a while. She logged about 250 hours on it. I played it for a while, too, in her world, and cleared out some large sections of corruption in hard mode.

I know it's probably foolish to buy this game again but I think I'm going to do exactly that. I've always been more comfortable with consoles. XBL or PSN? Tough choice.

XBL. BEFORE PROBLEMS

No, seriously. Everyone is on Xbox Live. AND PARTY CHAT. Not like we didn't do that already with the PC version.:P

Also, I'm up to 5 magic mirrors in this world. Holy crap.

I have played Terraria yet. But I don't have a 360 so I'll miss out. :/

It's on the PC right now. I think almost any PC could run it as well, since it's a lower-graphics kinda game.:)

The XBL version is the one that someone else bought from the guy(who abandoned PC updates), but the end of the trailer keeps saying "About that additional content..." or something at the end, implying the XBL/PSN versions are going to see more content than the PC version. That being said, the PC version is absolutely vast and worth the buy anyways.

I've built some map images of the world we've been playing on. I take an images after every gaming session to see how we progress.

Below are thumbs, click for medium and hi-rez.

This is MagWorld.

Before anyone started playing:

After bot and I played for a few days:

After bot, duel, and faye played:

I'm working on installing some mods onto my server, to add more variety to the game.

Very cool!

Since mods apparently don't like my laptop(well, tConfig apparently has problems randomly across many specs, which I find odd but whatever), I'll probably be working on my vanilla hardmode clear. I wanna do and see everything, and get everything I want legit. Should be fun! Right now, I'm working on a sky house in the snow biome(Hallow and Corruption on hard mode can't spread to snow biomes, or jungles apparently for that matter). In a turn of fate, apparently I spawned right next to a snow biome.

Immediately realizing my luck(and my luck in having smaller patches of original corruption), I blocked normal-mode corruption spread with my handy grass seeds and sunflowers. Considering I had to make a new world to tackle hard mode since wyverns could spawn way too low on a small world, I grabbed an All Items world from Curse to grab a Neptune's Shell, Hamdrax for building the hardmode barrier around my base as best as I could, and some Wings temporarily. After my house is finished, and the world is blocked from hardmode spread further(ideally, I'd like to at least save the dungeon and make a glowing mushroom farm for convenience near my house), I will be ditching said items and starting everything up where I left off pre-1.1 for the most part. I'll still have my Myth Drill, but other than that I have my Molten Armor and my Night's Edge. I also finally crafted a Star Cannon using mats I had from my original Terraria world- since I actually did have a Minishark laying around there, and the cannon is actually quite useful if stars are farmed nicely.

I am thinking of turning this into the evolution of a Terraria Let's Play I did one part of, which was pre-1.1 and sucked. I had a broken mic, I was at a loss on what to say(oh wait, I'm still like that sometimes), but it will be fun to kinda share some cave spelunking I think. I see a lot of LPs where people just kinda boss rush mode for the most part, and I'm not interested in that. I really like to get the most out of each world. Bosses will come(they have to), but yeah. Excitement!

These are, more or less, the instructions for installing the mods required to play on my server.

First - download and install Terraria. Not 100% certain, but I think it requires the Steam version in order to work with these mods.

Next - download the ZIP file which contains all the mods and software you need to play on my server here: http://thutmosesworkshop.com/terraria/Terraria_Mods.zip

Installing the mods - Extract the ZIP somewhere. In the extracted folder, install "game Launcher Setup.exe". Click through the installer.

Once that is installed, install "tConfig Installer.exe". Click through the installer.

With those two things installed, you can now install the mods themselves.

Open the "Never Enough Devices Installer.exe" installer. It should take about a second. Then you hit the enter key to complete the installation of that.

Next, extract "Obsidian_Global.rar". You can use 7-zip to extract it, or WinRar. In the newly extracted folder, open the "Obsidian_Global Installer.exe" installer. That installation should complete pretty quickly.

Next, extract the "Terraria Avalon 12.0.zip". In that newly extracted folder, open the "Avalon Installer.exe" installer. That should also complete quickly.

Next, install the last three mods. You'll want to open your "Documents" folder. Inside that, there should be a folder called "My Games". In that folder, should be one called "Terraria". In that, there should be a folder called "ModPacks".

Copy/paste or drag the three object files from the original extracted mods ZIP into the "ModPacks" folder. The files to copy are called: "Bag Slots.obj", "RussLeeIV's Base Mod.obj", and "RussLeeIV's Item Pack.obj".

Once all those things are in place, you can launch Terraria from Steam.

Instead of the normal Terraria screen, you should see the new Game Launcher screen. This will let you choose between launching vanilla Terraria and the new modded Terraria.

In the list, click on the "tConfig" option, then click on launch game button in the lower right-hand corner.

Now, when Terraria launches, you should see a familiar screen with several new options.

On this screen, click on "Rebuild Mods". This should list out 6 mods that were just installed. Click on each mod one at a time, starting with Avalon at the top.

Once that is all done, click on "Back" at the bottom of the screen.

Now, click on "tConfig Setings". On this screen, you will see another list of all the mods. You will see that they are all currently turned off. Click on each mod name one at a time, so that the all say "On".

Once they are all on, then click on "Reload Mods", which should now appear at the bottom of the screen. Once that's done, click on back. Then click on "Exit" to quit Terraria. Open Terraria up again from the Game Launcher. That should complete the mod installation process.

Awesome!

I also found out one of my presents I got for Christmas was a Terraria Collector's Edition. Working on getting a space/finding a monitor for my good gaming desktop, and hopefully then the mods won't make everything so laggy. Specs for Terraria of all things shouldn't be an issue then.:)

Bot and Duel still had some pretty serious lagging issues tonight, and I switched back to the non-modded server.

Going to have to try disabling the mods one at a time or something to try and figure out if we can pinpoint which mod(s) is the main cause of the lag.

Anyway - this is bot's and my work tonight:

Mainly worked on building out the house. Got a lava factory built, and a lava tunnel running under the house.

Looks awesome! I hope Aquarium 2.0 starts up on that world!

It also stinks that more people had problems. If I had to guess, I'd say Obsidian if all the sub-mods are there. I think that's just from the sheer amount of extra stuff it adds to the game.:)

So, I got a handy app from the android store that lists every item, event, boss, and pretty much everything about Terraria and I realized something.

Terraria has a lot in common with Runescape. Now that I see it that way the game becomes a lot clearer.

So, I apologize if I was dead useless in our Terraria sessions.

It's called Terraria Library. It's like two bucks but it seems up to date. It shows you what items there are and how to craft them along with dungeon information and all sorts knowledge goodies.

...That makes disturbing amounts of sense! But yeah, think of crafting armor just like blacksmithing. Down to the same metals for the most part.:P

The app seems nice! I think one of the Terraria wikis created it.

I've gotten my Terraria fix on the go! How you ask? Well, Junk Jack!

It's pretty much the same thing.
