Met another gaming goal this week by completing Magna Carta: Tears of Blood. People were saying it's an 80-hour RPG but, in all honesty, I got bored with the battle system and constant backtracking through the same areas multiple times so I used codes to speed up the gameplay process in order to get to the actual story elements and development faster, so I finished it in 24 hours.

What really got to me about the story is something that's not done often or well in titles, but this one pulled it off quite well:
The main heroine dies about 3/4 of the way through the story.

Great story but sub-par gameplay make it an average title. I already know the sequel is much better.

Other than that, continuing my drive to do absolutely everything in Theatrhythm Curtain Call. Once I fill the Total Critical charts for every song on Ultimate, it will be pretty much smooth sailing from there.

More or less a change of pace this week with obtaining Tales of Hearts R and Senran Kagura Bon Appetit for Vita on Tuesday. Have put about 10 hours into Tales and it will be my main focus for a while especially after deciding to take a break from Curtain Call due to burnout.

The Mario Kart 8 DLC also got some love as I played through the new courses to check them out. The courses themselves are about a 50/50 ratio between decent and great tracks while Link is the only new worthwhile character to play as.

Picross e5 also released this week. Downloaded it on Thursday, had it completed on Saturday.

Super-excited for this week due to not only Smash Bros. Wii U on Friday, but Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd also and that will be out tomorrow. That'll be the 3rd rhythm game purchased this fall.

Recently I've aquired Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles on the PSP. It's a remake of Rondo of Blood, and includes both the original Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night as unlockables. Right now I'm focusing on the main game. Which I've beaten for the bad ending, now working my way towards the good ending, using Maria. And I am getting my butt kicked by alternate stage 5 right now. I mean, technically, I probably don't have to beat it since I already have stage 6 open, but I want to beat it for completion's sake.

Well, not much gaming progress to be done with concentrating on Arc Arath, but here's what I've done recently, a handguns-only run, where not inconceivable ->

I have undusted my old PS3 to be able to play Dragon age; Inquisition.
My herald is a human mage. I am still pretty much at the beginning. My biggest issue with the game is that the text is so horribly small! it seems Bioware was expecting me to play in a 70" screen.

I find that to be a problem with a lot of modern games. It's bad enough that I don't have an HDTV, but I don't even have a widescreen TV, so a lot of games letterbox themselves, which makes the text even tinier!

HD TVs have been around since 1998. Gunna have to upgrade eventually. They are the standard. So games are going to be catered to the standard. Just sayin'

But I do have an HDTV! I never had a problem with reading things from my TV screen until Inquisition.

I can't afford a new TV. Especially with doctor bills and no job.

Last week was hellishly slow at work but worth the endurance.

Tuesday saw the release of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F, which I've spent quite a bit of time on since I was sick over the weekend and stayed in bed with it on my Vita all day yesterday.

Thursday was a nice surprise courtesy of the release of the WiiUWare RPG Alphadia Genesis, one that I'd been looking forward to for a while. Got a nice first impression from it and am considering doing a blind Let's Play as well.

Friday was the early arrival of Christmas courtesy of Smash Bros. WiiU. Quickly unlocked every character and stage before calling it a night.

I'd also been on the fence regarding Pier Solar and the Great Architect, a Genesis RPG made in celebration of the system's 20th anniversary and an HD version on current-gen consoles. Decided to get that after receiving a $20 eShop gift card and it also gave a good first impression.

The planned acquisitions for this week are Persona Q and the next batch of Hyrule Warriors DLC. For everything that's coming out next month except Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD, those will be for Christmas.

I got two games last week: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Dragon Age: Inquisition.

It sure is nice to be able to play on a bigger screen. I feel like taking it easy in the challenges though. Fortunately, there were less characters to unlock and the locked ones were pretty easy to get.
I went to a friend's house last friday for his birthday and they set up a Wii U with the game. Between gamepad, GC controllers, wiimotes and 3DS, we managed to have some chaos in 8-players Smahs matches. It's insane when you get small stages like Onet and Yoshi's Island! We had some special matches like Random Only, Pokemon characters only, female characers only and my favorite: The koopalings/Bowser Jr. showdown to see who will be the future koopa king. (Larry won. Damn you Larry.)

I also bought 2 amiibos. I don't plan on using them much, but I figured I like figurines like those, and having the Peach and Link amiibo would allow me to use them in 3 games I own anyway.
My 4 year old niece is fascinated with her Mii as a swordsman, so when she wants to play (she just stands there pressing A, I set up the Peach amiibo to fight with her and do the killing for her. :)

I made a human male mage in Inquisition and I am having some fun with him. I am liking the characters too so far. I like how Cole is even weirder than he was in the book, Dorian's mustache didn't bother me like I thought it would, and Iron Bull is awesome (and also romantically available for males! Although I went for Dorian.)

Seeing some familiar faces has been nice too. I'm looking forward to see more Origins (and book) cameos/appearances!

I also got the Link amiibo and have him in his Fierce Deity costume as my sparring partner. What I'm sad about is that you can't have the amiibo join in Classic or other modes.

It's been a pretty good week for gaming:

Picked up Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth on Tuesday and, while I haven't done much with it yet, it's definitely one for fans of both the Persona and Etrian Odyssey series. Unfortunately you'll need to have played both Persona 3 and Persona 4 to fully appreciate the characters.

Friday also saw the arrival of Tears to Tiara II, a hybrid Strategy RPG and Visual Novel on PS3 that left a very good first impression with its strong story opening, but since I have an SRPG left on my gaming goal list for the year I'll be getting to that first.

Completed Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd over the week with both its Platinum trophy and clearing every song on every difficulty (the latter is not required for Platinum) and finished obtaining the Platinum trophy for Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 after first beating it a couple of months ago. Also fired up Hyrule Warriors a few times to enjoy the Twilight Princess DLC map and make a little more progress overall.

My on-the-go focus will return to Tales of Hearts R but I also took time to reach a few more milestones on Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call with exchanging ProfiCards with 99 people via Streetpass or online play, completing the CollectaCard collection, and finally, FINALLY completing the Total Critical Chart on Dancing Mad Ultimate difficulty after having playing that song over SEVENTY times on that difficulty alone. It felt quite good to finally get that one out of the way.

Should be getting Kingdom Hearts 2.5 sometime this week and possibly the HD Ace Attorney trilogy, but most of the new games for this month won't be acquired until Christmas.

Trying to three-star Mirror in Mario Kart 8 so I can go ahead and not touch the game again until the next DLC. Then I can focus on other games. Such as Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Which is good.

Thank goodness the 3-star requirements for Mario Kart 8 are significantly relaxed as compared to previous titles. Should only take a few tries to get that 4-streak of 1st places.

Yeah, and that's the only reason why I'm bothering.

A fairly quiet week courtesy of a lot of busy evenings:

Still making progress towards completion of Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Curtain Call. Have the trophies for 50 Short Quests, Completion/Perfect Chains of Basic/Expert Songs, and filling all of the Total Critical Charts left. Working on those 50 Short quests and have about 12 left to do. So long as I can keep getting Teleport Stones to drop, each quest only takes about 10 minutes/3 songs to complete.

Have also turned on Hyrule Warriors every now and then to continue to make progress on its Adventure Mode maps, finally playing as Agitha and Zant for the first time to attempt some of their quests. Still haven't touched Volga. Made progress in unlocking the 3rd of 5 reward maps (of the original, non-DLC content).

Also began Record of Agarest War to complete my gaming goal list of the year and will easily make the February 1st goal date by completing 1 generation per week, though that'll be easier once evenings clear up again.

Dragon Age: Inquisition: Beat the game yesterday. Without the side quests, the game is actually pretty short. I'll probably continue the post game to hunt all dragons and other achievement or start a new game and see other story branches.

Hyrule Warriors: I have been playing HW a lot more lately. I was frustrated by not having enough rupees to level up everyone, so I decided to take it easy and unlock heart pieces befoere attempting to get the rest of the race k 3 weapons. It seemed to work for me, since I managed to get around 8 rank 3 weapons over the weekend.
