The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds came out on Friday, I just beat it today (Sunday), and holy sh*t that was a good game. That was the most fun I've had with a Zelda probably since Link to the Past, and probably surpasses Wind Waker as my second favorite game in the series. If it weren't for nostalgia, it may even be better than LttP, making it my favorite game.

I can't wait to play it again on Hero Mode. It's not often that a Zelda game entices me to play again so soon after beating it the first time.

I am finally on my way to the second dungeon in Link Between Worlds. NOICE NOICE. I really like it. A lot. A lot a lot.

I also caved and got Super Mario 3D World for the household to play together. I have almost beaten the game already(because I really wanna unlock Rosalina), and I can confirm this Mario game has the most personality of any of them in like... forever. Interesting stuff. I love the cat powerup. The difficulty is not super hard, but that's probably because I've been playing Mario games foreverrrr. It's like 3D Land, but it feels much more fleshed out and better-paced in my opinion. The only thing I dislike is the arbitrary amount of stars needed to get to the FINAL FREAKING LEVEL which I do not have yet. I think stars(coins in previous games, get 3 yadda) need to have more emphasis on being optional to a degree. It really hinders these types of games, and I can see a co-op group playing being like "What? We have to grind stars?" kinda sucking away the fun. The music is also super freaking rad and probably one of the best out of recent Mario games. The ghost levels man. Maybe they recycled it, I can't tell. But it is honestly 200-300% more fun than New Super Mario Bros Wii U. It is also ENTIRELY fun to solo, and it is awesome to FINALLY get to play as Peach for freaking once. And I am looking forward to unlocking Rosalina. I do wish it had online, but even without it is a solid title worthy of ANY Wii U library. Seriously, if you have a Wii U- get this game.

Needless to say, I spent time on Mario and that's why my Zelda progress is limited. I literally stayed up all night playing... for like... 8 hours-ish.

Looked for Dust: An Elysian Tail on XBox Arcade last night and started playing. Fluent controls, beautiful graphics, fun to play, good voice acting. I am very pleased to have given up a mere $14.99 for this game.

Just an example of Super Mario 3D World music, and its level in sweetness.

Got Rosalina!

I have been playing numerous games in an attempt to clear my seemingly impossible backlog and the game I'm enjoying the most is Link Between Worlds. Seriously, this game is good. Damn good. The music is fantastic and the dungeons are cleverly made, just as clever as the game's puzzles. When in doubt go into painting mode, as most of the puzzles make good use of it.

Lately I've been exploring old and obscure PS2 games. Remember Samurai Western? How about Ghost Hunter? Extermination!? Samurai Legend: Musashi!? I don't think that last one is obscure, but I've itching to play it for some reason.

I just beat Catherine last night. This was a fantastic puzzle game and the story was good, too.

In the two days I've had it, I have put ten hours into Rune Factory: Frontier on Wii. I love that I can disable the waggle controls. Having the option to ignore them and use buttons is fine, but to disable them entirely and avoid accidental inputs is glorious. I'm really digging this game.

I picked up too many games on steam recently.

Of them, I have played a good deal of Payday the Heist.
It's a great game, very much like Left 4 Dead.

Played with Lantis, Myoky, Ixzion, Kajak, Fayorei, and Sarah's Knight all day yesterday. Twelve hours of gaming (and streaming) to ring in the new year!

We pretty much stuck to two games, Dungeon Defenders and Payday: The Heist.

Myoky found a really awesome secret vault in Payday that really PAID off! Every time we play the level it is in, we usually level up once maybe twice. With the secret vault, we level up as much as twenty times in a single run! Crazy!

Hey everyone! It's been a while. >.>

Guild Wars 2:
I have been playing the hell out of GW2.
After leveling my ranger to 80, I started experimenting with other classes. With my necromancer being close to cap (Second character being a guardian), I decided it's time to focus on end game stuff.

Super Mario 3D World: I bought a Wii U! I already beat World 8 (I really enjoyed that Bowser encounter.
Although part of me wished I also had the chance to actually fight him and not just avoid him and hit pow blocks
)
I'm considering getting The Wonderful 101 despite all the horrible things I've heard about it. (I'v heard many things on each side of the spectrum tho)

A while ago, I beat Pokemon Y. I had
fun.

2 more dungeons left to get to the final one in A Link Between Worlds. Still need heart pieces though.

Started up Bravely Default's demo. Protip: To get the 20 villagers for the Norende restoration to transfer to retail, just hit up the one guy in town that gives you them after beating the first boss. Right to the left of the magic shop. Talk to the dude to the right of the inn and select save, but do not save and just select to return to title. Keep doing this since the villagers are saved even if you do not save for infinite villagers, but only 20 can be transferred. I don't even feel bad having done this since Streetpass with the demo did not work for me- I got 9 yesterday from Nintendo Zones, and even one dude was also playing the Bravely Default demo.

I beat DuckTales Remastered on Extreme. That's a helluva gaming accomplishment.

I also beat Magic 2014, Gunman Clive and Organ Trail.

Been playing Typing of the Dead: Overkill.

Some people on GameFAQs boards were claiming that Extreme is easier than Normal on DTR. How would you compare the two?

It's been a while since I bothered with this topic, but I figure I should come back to it with a progress report of an N64 game I'm playing called Hybrid Heaven. It's one of the very few RPGs on the system, but it's very different from most RPGs. It takes place entirely in an underground facility owned by a race called Hybrids who plan on taking over the world. No towns, no shops, but enough story to keep you interested. Exploration of course involves exploring, battling, and finding treasure chests. But the game also involves a little bit of platforming and a lot bit of shooting out laser-weilding security cameras. (The game is made by Konami.)

Battles are one-on-one, in which you have free movement around the battle arena. You wait for your attack meter to build up, and then choose to attack the enemy using punches, kicks, and grapples. You learn new attacks by being attacked (it's just like Blue Magic). As you gain strength, your attack meter can also multiply, allowing for combo attacks. The game has both a regular stat growth system, and a system where attacking or being attacked with certain body parts (arms, legs, etc.) increases the offense or defense of those body parts, respectively. Eventually it does get to the point where you favor some attacks over others, but it's still pretty interesting, and I intend to let's play this game in the future.

The problem is, I've never beaten it. I got to the last area years ago, and then suddenly stopped playing for some reason. Hopefully I'll beat it this time. But it won't be easy, 'cause I decided to try my hand at Hard Mode. I've been dying. A lot. (I hate hate hate those MIB rejects.)

So now, a progress report. I'm at the end of Area 3, chasing down the clone of Kevin, who just sent the President of the United States down into the cloning facility. I'm pretty sure Kevin's the next boss, 'cause he's spending a good deal of time mocking me and impeding my progress.

Also, here's a video of the first boss. Showed off both attempts because I wanted to make it clear that this guy is hard if you don't take him seriously. (Hint: letting him toss you on your head kinda leaves you defenseless.)

Hoping to finish up Final Fantasy XIII's main story before the weekend is over. Not sure if I'll aim for the Platinum right away or move on to something else for a while. With so many new releases this month it's not an easy choice to make.

On the handheld front: Debating on finishing getting 100% completion of Senran Kagura Burst before starting Bravely Default (which I'm picking up after work).

For Let's Plays I'll be streaming a between-project Let's Listen on Sunday and starting The Return of Touhou Mother next weekend.

Okay, now I'm in Area 5 of Hybrid Heaven. This is easily the creepiest area of the game, what with the lighting and the eerie tune that plays. Currently sitting in front of a boss gauntlet of elemental monsters. It's a good thing I saved these elemental guns throughout the quest. In fact, I just found out that the ice gun can actually freeze enemies in place, including bosses!

Also, gotta mention the boss in Area 4. It wasn't an RPG boss. Instead I was forced to rely on my gun that I use primarily for security cameras, all while dodging an assortment of attacks. Which isn't very easy in a game that you can't run-and-gun. But it was an interesting deviant considering this is an RPG that I'm playing.
