DMC1 Dante is not badass. And he looks ridiculous in that raincoat.

.... That was indeed a hilarious moment of bad voice acting, the agonizing cry over how Trisha's soul was left in darkness. Still, surely you agree that Dante from the first version beats the heck out of DMC3's Dante any day. The man was a total fruit basket in that one.

Well, minus, of course, [spoiler]what he said to Virgil just preceding their first fight -> "Some party you're throwing, Brother. No food, no booze, ... and the only hot babe just left."[/spoiler] I approve of that one line, anyway. *gives official SK stamp of approval*


... Now, since you have chosen to open Pandora's box with this one, Gnasher, sit back and prepare for Lantis to come in and adamantly argue that Dante is the hugest (if "hugest" is even a real word) bad*** character in video gaming history, as soon as he notices this topic. ^_^

That is some seriously terrible voice acting.

But yeah, that one line in DMC1 is forever the bane of that game. And while Dante has problems saying the word "light", I can't say it hampered his badassness TOO drastically. I can agree with you that Dante from DMC2 is alot more badass. In fact, I made this pic a few months ago.



There's actually 2 reasons I used DMC2's Dante model. Firstly, out of DMC1 - 3... 2 is the most badass as far as looks and manorisms (the game its self excluded in this factor). The second being because chronologically, DMC2 is the most current. All the events in DMC4 happen right before DMC2 actually.

(and btw... I haven't watch that video yet... I'm a few missions away before I hit 17. In fact, I just his 12... which means I've just started playing as Dante. I have yet to measure his badassness in this title as compared to others.)

Personally, I prefered Dante from DMC3 because he was a total basket case. Riding a missile like a surfboard? Jumping off a damned tower? Oh, hell yeah!

I found DMC3 Dante to be a bit over the top.

As far as gameplay, I do like DMC3 best so far. I've played through most of Nero's levels... and he just doesn't have near the fucntionality of DMC3 Dante. I've recently started playing with Dante though... and switching styles on the fly will probably trump DMC3.

As far as badassness is concerned, I believe DMC4 Dante wins. Epically.

Just wait until the mission 17 cutscene. =D

And also, I like his DMC4 character design more than 2, really.

Though I've never played or watched or seen any f DMC3, so I don't have a say in that aspect. =/

Ooh, I see.

So it's Advent-Children-Kind-Of-Badass... which is not a bad badass at all. People should start making action movies with that kind of choreography; it's sad to see great scenes like that only in videogame cutscenes.

On the other hand, sometimes it really looks over the top.

DMC3 has one thing for it, though – you can be a true badass in the game, but at least it's difficult as hell to do...

You should give the game a try, the battle is wonderful.

@lantis: that scene is classic. it has to be one of the worst voice acting jobs of all time. the wording is crap too, totally not what dmc is all about.
