So anyway, I bought it, who else is in for some racing?

I will be ready to race. I'll probably do some offline play with my fiancee to unlock things and to play with her first. But I'm super excited about this game. I'll be Waluigi-ing it up.

Wait, is the game out already? I thought it was on the 30th? I pre ordered it, so I'm definitely getting it.

I just got a call that I can pick it up tomorrow at 9 am. I'll probably pick it up that early since I have a couple of things to do in the evening.

I'm personally not a big fan of the series but I have a friend who is, he's enjoying the game but keeps complaining about the battle mode, from what I've seen it uses actual tracks instead of arena styled areas, is it really that bad?

I haven't seen the tracks, myself, but I would assume that they would be arena variants of the race tracks. I mean can you imagine doing battle on an unmodified N64 Rainbow Road?

Mario Kart TV is a cool feature. Once a race is over, you can select to view highlights and it'll automatically set up a 30 second highlight reel for you. However, you can edit the hi light reel to show off anything. You can focus on certain human drivers and what types of action to show off (items, drifting, etc.) and change how long it is. Once you finish, you can choose to upload to YouTube. It's awesome and I have a video up already.

The wife and I just finished all the tracks on 150cc. Unlocking a bunch of stuff as we go. Really enjoying it so far. SK was coming down this weekend, but plans changed. So I'm free.

Well, battle mode maps ARE slightly modified version of 8 tracks. You do race around them trying to find you opponent, although you are not limited to driving in the same direction (as one would expect) I played against the CPU and didn't find it that exciting.

I have been playing either by myself or with my brother to unlock stuff. I haven't played online yet. I might actually head over someone's house to play some multiplayer Mario Kart 8 but I'm not sure how enjoyable will screen split in 4 be. Hopefuly they have a big enough TV!

Yeah, Battle Mode is a huge disappointment. There's way too much time spent just trying to find someone to attack.

By the way, that MKTV thing? Those videos still get that "matched third-party content" tag. =P

Well it's Nintendo's fault for putting their music into Youtube's system to get recognized.

Uploaded a few highlights last night though only one got flagged for copyright.

Just got gold in every Mirror Cup
Now I get different images when highlighting Single Player or Multiplayer Mode. I forgot Mario Kart games did this.

Anyway, that last cup was such a smooth run (ignoring the Rainbow Road fiasco that ruined my 1st place streak and my chance at getting even one star), and I really liked a specific moment in Tick Tock Clock that I wanted to immortalize it.

I'm about to run out of decent internet speed, so I might have only enough to play 1 or 2 more online sessions unfortunately. Then I'll need to wait 2 weeks. >_<

Listen yo, this thing with Nintendo and matching content. They can do that- they have been with everything months before this. It will not affect your Youtube account at all- they just want right to monetize your video. Yes, Youtube has bots for this sort of thing. Yes, Nintendo agreed to it by supplying those bots with information they know to look for. Yes, Nintendo knew about this with MKTV, and is probably hoping to get a couple ads out of it.

It's not a copyright strike(heaven forbid) that will ruin your account and remove your unlimited upload length, or anything like that.
