Have you ever thought that FFVI was too broken? Too easily exploitable in your favor? Too relying on one specific strategy to win every single fight?

If so, then you should take a look at this new(ish, it came out last year) romhack called Brave New World:

Basically, these two guys have completely overhauled pretty much everything in the game, stats, Espers, characters, equipment, enemies, ect. To make the game more balanced.

Note, more balanced does not necessarily mean harder, in fact from what I've played, some enemies seem to do even less damage. It means that you will no longer be able to rush through the game focusing solely on Blitz and Ultima.

I won't list everything that they changed, but I'll highlight some of the most important things that they've done in case you don't feel like clicking that link and checking it out for yourself.

• Every character has been reworked to fit into a specific "class". i.e. Shadow is no longer just as capable at being a mage as say Relm or Terra.
• To go along with this, every single Esper has been modified. First of all, not every character can equip each esper, each character has a list of Espers that they can equip, limiting their magic selection, as well as their potential stat growth.
• Pretty much every character specific skill has been modified. Morph no longer works on a timer, but instead increase the amount of damage Terra takes. Runic now absorbs all white, black and grey magic. Gau's list of Rages has been reduced from nearly 300 to just 64. Bushido is now infinitely more useful.
• Every single enemy has had their stats, resistances, and scripts reworked.

Overall, it's pretty cool. These two guys have put a ton of work into this romhack, and if you're already a fan of FF6, you should definitely check it out. They done some really interesting changes, such as removing the Genji Glove and Gauntlet as relics, and instead have dual wield and two hand relegated to the weapons specifically. And Setzer's tweaks sound super interesting, with the possibility of him doing some of the highest damage, while also capable of doing some of the lowest, based on RNG. If anything, this will make you think more about who you put in your party. There are only 4 "dedicated healers" now, Locke, Setzer, Terra and Relm, and so if you want healing magic, you are going to have to use one of them, no more using Shadow or Edgar, or whoever as your white mage.

I've heard of it and may have to play through it in the near future. I do plan to LP another Romhack called The Eternal Crystals. That one really ramps up the difficulty.

I kinda wish I had known about this before I started up my FF6 LP.

This does sound like an interesting hack. I'll keep watching your playthrough as you're going on Hangout.
