looks like they borrowed more than a few ideas from some lesser known artists.

And now with Pitchford saying more studios should show off intent rather than content, as they did and still do with Aliens: Colonial Marines, I'm less and less a fan of their work.

To think I gave them a free pass with DNF.

Here's more:

Yeah, all of this coming out makes me feel guilty about liking Borderlands 1 and 2. I don't think I'll be buying Borderlands 3 new. If anything, I'll buy it used.

How much of this do we know is really plagiarism? 'Cause like, for example, there's some controversy over The Lion King over whether it was ripping off Kimba the White Lion, and it seems like people are over-exaggerating and overreacting about it. I wonder if this is a similar situation.

Don't act like Gearbox hasn't gone above and beyond to do what most developers would ever dream of. Think of all the reasons that we despise so many developers today. Maybe because of DRM, online passes, rehashing, what have you. I won't deny that yes, if this happens to be true, it's wrong. But they are at least making an effort (and a really good one) to be good to us gamers. Borderlands brought us tons of hours of fun and replayability. The second even more so. The writing has always been great. I don't know what the video was talking about mentioning a poorly written story. The pop culture references were funny and I genuinely laughed more at BL 1 and 2 more than any other game. All the DLC was worth it, and some of my best times spent with you guys was IN these games.

Gearbox has been good to us. Better than most developers... just under Valve. And I'm not going to return that with hate.

I'm not responding with hate here, but I'm interested to see if they will actually take the time to come forward and respond. Art theft... that just doesn't sit right with me. And it is way too similar to be a coincidence, especially since they approached that particular artist about working for them and some of the screens are replicas wholesale. There's a difference between inspiration and tracing.

It's kinda funny. While I can't say whether GB plagiarized or not (they DID contact the brains behind Codehunters I guess), so many people are using that Borderlands is cel-shaded as evidence of it.

I mean 'kinda funny' because people come out with similar ideas all the time between works, but sometimes people pick and choose when it is or isn't okay. Hell, GB flat out said that they started BL because they wanted a 'multiplayer Fallout 3' to exist. But apparently that is perfectly okay. (The fact the game ended up very different from F3 is besides the point.)
