Bought Rock Band iOS? Enjoy it while you can, since it's being disabled May 31st.

I understand that Harmonix had little/no part in the creation of this game, but this is INCREDIBLY disappointing. I bought the game when it originally came out and then picked up DLC for it, but I'm going to lose the game forever at the end of the month.

Just thought I would let fans know, and warn anyone who was thinking about buying the game (the iTunes store, of course, makes no mention that the game is going bye bye).

Maybe Harmonix could chime in, as well.

Digital Distro future, huh?

Yeah this is exactly why I get antsy. For a while, after Midway was having major problems some of their XBLA games went down, to where you couldn't re-download. Something happened luckily, and then we could get those back apparently.

And Sega, for "unknown reasons" disabled Phantasy Star Portable 2 on the PSN a few months back, and it isn't on there again yet. They keep saying it was in error, etc etc, but no one knows if/when it will be back on the PSN. And you just can't find that title in many stores now. I have a UMD, but I was hoping to score a digital one since the load times for weapon swapping, etc, go way down- installing the UMD doesn't even do that much!

But EA... they have a myriad of bad business to their name as well. Didn't they win the worst company award? Just, gah. At first though- I thought they were going to disable Rock Band 3 from the topic title, heh.

To my knowledge, the only games that were ever taken down were either MMOs that aren't WoW and a few console games that either you hate or just don't care about.

Personally, I don't consider mobile devices a real form of gaming anyways. There are no real hard core gamers that prefer playing games on their iPhone over a handheld or console version. And besides, they aren't going to pull a game down that's doing well anyways.

But my question is this: How are they going to stop you from playing it? I can understand if they are going to close down the feature that allows you to buy new songs. But they can't go in and delete that app off your phone. That would be like Xbox deleted say... Turtles in Time: Reshelled off your Xbox for you.

Besides... it's EA. What more did you really expect of them?

There's truth in that Lantis. Actually, I think the only MMORPG that spectacularly failed was an EA bomb. EA in general is just kinda... bombing a lot.:P

Most times, digital distribution is A-okay, but I wonder what it'll be like in ten years. Steam has been my favorite platform thus far for it, definitely.
