Unbelieveable, I'm sure, but unfortunately true. I'm trying to play through it again, and I'm just not enjoying myself. Why? Because this game offers absolutely no challenge, anymore. When I first played the game, I was new to RPGs, and wound up losing to most bosses. At this point, I've played the game too much, and the bosses barely do a thing to me. I almost never have to use magic spells.

And trying to handicap myself doesn't work. I already beat the game at half the recommended level a few years back. What left is there to try? I could do that again, but it meant trying to avoid all the game's regular battles, and that's just not enjoyable. Never using healing magic apparently isn't affecting a thing, because my inventory is STILL getting too full. The only thing I've never accomplished in the game was 100 jumps, and I'm not going to keep playing just to accomplish that. After this playthrough, I'll probably not play it ever again. 'Tis a shame, as it is a quality game. It just severely needs a "hard mode".

Well, it's certainly not easy for me. Mario RPG is what got me interested in RPGs in the first place.

Me too, man. Me too. And I'll always have a place for it. I plan to LP it at some point. Or maybe LPing it would get you to enjoy another playthrough yourself, if you wanted to (if you don't, I definately will). But yeah, SMRPG didn't really offer much after beating it. No game plus mode, no harder difficulty (or at least some form of 'active' or 'wait' battle options), no optional endings, and not very many optional objectives in the game. Speaking of which btw, I still haven't done the 100 jumps either. Nor have I found ALL the chests in the game... but everything else, yeah.

Maybe it's best to not play it for a few years. Come back to it when the nostalgia has had time to build. I've played the ever loving snot out of Chrono Trigger. And when I stopped playing it for a year... I came back to it and enjoyed it better than I usually have. Also, the DS release of Chrono Trigger brought back the game completely. All the new content and such was just awesome. Maybe there should be a re-make or something for SMRPG.

Yeah, that'll never happen. People have been asking for a remake ever since the Game Boy Advance.

Actually, I think everyone's only been asking for simply just a port. I think a DS re-make with touch screen interactions, walking, and spell casting would bring a lot of new fun to a very classic game. Basically, give it the same treatment as they did Chrono Trigger.

But like you side, that'll probably never happen. I guess it's best you just put it down for a few years and come back to it later and see if that doesn't reset your feelings for the game.

Come on, guys. Let's be optimistic. I mean, it was said the American consumer would NEVER see the REAL Super Mario Bros. 2, right?

It was also said that many of the Final Fantasies that were skipped over would never be seen in the states as well. Let us be optimistic.
