Oooooh man, bosses, an essential part of any vidya game. List your favorites, most hated, or most annoying bosses here!

I'm busy doing laundry so I'll post mine when I get back tomorrow but go ahead and post!

It's taking you all night to do laundry?

Anyway, favorite boss, Zeromus. Awesome final battle theme, and the coolest final battle background found in any 2D RPG. And he's hard as heck. In certain versions, at least.

Least favorite boss: half the bosses from Final Fantasy 8. Do they really need that much HP?

Thardus from Metroid Prime

I had a hell of a time trying to beat this guy/thing. Over and over I got closer but couldn't beat him. Then finally I did and it was one of the best feelings of accomplishment I've ever had in a video game. Made me appreciate the difficulty and the challenge now that I beat it. And then, thanks to the designers of Metroid Prime, I got turned around, chose the wrong door and got killed on the way to the save point by regular random enemies! Yeah, that was fun. That is what fun is, fun is when you are screwed like that. So anyways, beat him again eventually and moved on.

Even before the experience of this game, I never necessarily liked boss battles. Games like the Shadow Hearts series had enjoyable boss battles (especially Covenant and From the New World where you could see their HP for the most part) because they required more challenge than the regular battles but you never felt you'd get screwed.

But a game like the original Halo managed to be utterly enjoyable without any boss battles at all. On Legendary it was sort of a boss experience spread out over regular save points and I prefer that over typical boss battles. Halo 2 is evidence as to why boss battles are not an essential part of any game because they were lame and cheap and actually not fun. Luckily Halo 3 was more like the original.

You think Thardis is hard, wait until Cyykra in MP2. I sh*t you not, the boss battle takes place in a lake of poison, and the boss has 6 forms, and various projectiles that ALL must be scanned SEPARATELY, or else you won't score 100% completion. Oh, and the boss its self is simply murder, because it has the ability to break lock-ons in later forms, not to mention that you have to cycle between various beams and missiles, AND it's f*cking fast.
That single boss is reason ENOUGH to find all those Missile packs the FIRST time though that way you won't have to face this boss again by doing the second run through.

The bosses in Valkyria Chronicles.......
Ugh
Especially Selvaria with her stupid sniper rifle/machine gun thing. First you need to get everybody up to the top levels, which are conveniently covered in tanks, then you need to deal with all the troops surrounding her while she's a'shootin away. Then you can only shoot her in the back, her counterattack will almost certainly defeat any of your infantry (along with anyone behind them), and she recovers most of her health at the end of the turn. And after all that BS, you don't even get her stupid gun. Easily the most irritating encounter in the game, although I haven't played any of the DLC ones.

The NES Mega Mans have some of the best bosses ever, with the exceptions of Needle and Wood Man.
HATE
