I've spent the majority of today listening to classic song OSTs. Mostly 2 and 3 (not dissin' on 1, mind you... 1 is awesome too). All the while telling myself that I need to play through these again. Which is true... for these are the best platformers of my time. And luckly, with the Sonic Mega Collection Plus... it's more than possible (even though the collection is basically a Genesis emulator that runs on PS2/3).

Anyway, then it struck me. Never once was I finding myself wanting to hit up some tracks from the newer sonic games... namely from Heroes up. So of course I don't have the desire to play them either.

So my question isn't "do you think Sega sucks at making Sonic games?" Because I think the majoirty of people already know the answer to that. No, my question is do you think Sega knows that they are slipping?

Think about it for a second. People still go out and buy these new titles. Hell, I bet people here at the Mag even have a copy of Sonic Heroes or Soinc 2k6. So to Sega, they are still making money... so they could possibly think they are just as awesome as they were back in the Genesis era.... wich is nothing short of bullocks. But then, there's the chance that they DO know that what they have just sucks and they don't care... "hard core" fans will buy them never the less because... er... well, actually, I don't know why. Anyway, we've seen that Sonic Cycle picture floating around about how everyone thinks the next game is "Soinc's great return" and everyone fall for it every damn time. But that's a dead horse that's been beaten way too long. So let's point fingers at Sega and speculate what THEY may be thinking about this from their standpoint.

I think Sega does know, why they are actually putting out lame Sonic games is beyond me. Does the Sonic Team work on every game? Because I think they could use some help.

I think they just need a break.

Sega's turned Sonic Team, which once did many things (like Nights), into a Sonic assembly line. They must make a new Sonic game each year and nothing else.

I feel bad for those guys who are forced to make sh*tty Sonic games so they can eat. Sega brass doesn't care.
