I couldn't find anywhere else to put this topic so I put it here.

Anyway, I'm having Dexdrive problems... Now this is my first time using a DexDrive and I know I have it plugged in right. (Orange light is on and is plugged to comp.) I also installed the DexPlorer Program.

But my problem is that when I enter the program, it says it cannot find the DexDrive... What's wrong? I have it plugged in and every thing.

Did you have it hooked up to the computer before you turned it on?

Have you tried resetting the comptuer?

Do you have a memory card in the Dexdrive when you start the Dexplorer?

Yes I had it plugged in before turning it on. (Instructions say so.)
And yes I tried restarting.
And yes I had a memory card in.

I don't know... I have two DexDrives (Guy sent two instead of 1) so maybe i'll try the other one.

I don't remember having that problem before.

What kind of memory card do you have?

Otherwise, try the other one.

I'm not really sure what kind it is... All I know at the moment is that it is solid light Blue. So yeah I'll probably try the other one.

From what I know, Dexdrives only take certain types of memory cards.

If you have any by "Performance" or "Interact" or "Pelican", then use those.

Also I should ask, What would memory cards have to do with it not being able to locate the DexDrive at all?

That would affect it reading the memory card (it would say "Memory card not found").

But it can't find the Dexdrive?

It's in the serial port and all that? I'm not exactly sure what could be wrong with it.

I asked this same question on GameFAQs but got no answer that could help me.

So does anyone else have any advice?

The Dex Drive occasionally goes retarded like that. I've had it happen several times. disconnect it, reconnect it, open the dexplorer with a memory card inserted, with one not inserted, eventually it should/might work.

when you say disconnect and reconnect it, do you mean turn off the comp and do that or just do it while it's on?

try both. it's a crappy piece of hardware, you never know what will make it work. for that matter, put cheerios in it, cover it with honey and feed it to a squid. might fix it.

I think you're asking too much of some people. :p

Anyway..I had a problem like that before--a problem that almost got me fired from my reviewing position here several years ago.
One day...it just started working again. So try everything.

alright thanks for all of the help, I'll try these tips out when my Bros get off of the TWO comps in my house. (I have two older brothers and 2 comps and a laptop... They don't let me use the comps and the laptop can't use floppys.)

Can the lappy get online? You can download the stuff that's on the floppies from this place. Although who knows if you can even connect the DexDrive to it.

Yes, I'm on the Lappy now... And yes I can plug it in here, I don't know if it will work on this though since the LapTop has a built in Firewall that can't be turned off.

A firewall affects the internet, not local connections. It wouldn't affect the dexdrive.
