no. the point of a router is that you can have lots of computers on one connection.

No you don't neeed a second IP from your isp. I have 3 pc's hooked up beside my laptop and my bro's pc.

Make sure your connection hasn't reset itself.

Go to Start >> Run >> type cmd
Then, when the prompt comes up, type ipconfig.
Check that information.

Then, in your browser, hit up 192.168.1.1 (usual router ip addy) and check the ipconfig number against the router number.

Fix if necessary.

That's my suggestion.

that happened to me and my brother one time so we just reset the router and it worked fine after that. theres a tiny little button somewhere that you gotta poke with a pencil or whatever... >__>

Oh, have you already tried unplugging the modem and router, waiting a few minutes, then reconnecting them? That works often.

You won't need to check the ipconfig. That advice would solve application problems, but you have a general net problem.

And if that doesn't work, you may want to try using a switch. It's out of pocket, but at least both computers will gain access without stealing bandwith from either. In some cases, that has actually fixed the problem.

If not, then try this:

Open up the internet explorer and in the address bar type:

192.168.1.0

(might be 192.168.0.1 I'm not too sure off the top of my head)

and that will take you into your router settings. Just make sure that there
isn't any protection that limits connectivity among any other computer within the network.
