Sumisem, you hater. Always cracking down on Visual Basic, when there isn't a thing wrong with it.

Ha! I bet you couldn't code in HTML much lest VB. Freakin poser!

You just lost some cool points with that. VB is first off slow, Java would beat the crap out of it in performance. And VB is what all the script kiddies use, cause they can't learn a real language. With C# there is no reason to use VB ever (except maybe for those stupid Macros in Word and such). BASIC was cool, but VB is just dumb. Sorry Lantis that statement just made you an uncool programmer :P.

Bugger! There is nothing wrong with VB! You can do anything in VB you can with every other language... and you would realize that if you weren't retarded!

Well you would realize you could do it faster in that other language, so why bother doing it slower in VB. So while you can do it, you have to ask youself why should you. Plus VB is not crossplatform like a lot of other languages, so I defy you to make it work on Linux, or even ... Mac. So you can't do everything you can in other languages with it. Maybe you you would realize that if you weren't so busy arguing a theory every programmer should know :P. So you can do everything with it, but make it work on not Windows. Sure you could write an intepreter for it, but why not just use something better to begin with.

It's slower for people who spend more time bashing it than working with it.

No, it's slower because it's interpreted. Something you should be aware of since you love it so much. Compiled languages will always win in speed. And it is definitly slower than C/C++, since hardly any language can beat that.

interperation of the software isn't slowed down at all. I just finished working on a program in VB that takes raw data from a .tra file... converts it to .txt... open the file... converts all characters to ASCII reads it and separates it by pre-determined catagories.... opens up a database... sticks the now catagorized data into a spread sheet... and sends it over the net.

And it takes all of half a second to do that...

I will be more than happy to show you the code, if you are curious.

Well I'm still pretty sure that is because of .NET. I still will never be using it as it's not cross platform. But for performance critical applications I want you to find me a company willing to write it in VB, let along anything but assembly or C. Don't think you'll see any games written in VB anytime soon (commercial ones that is). Though I must admit that is impressive, depending on the size of the file. And a spread sheet is not a database, while similar still quite different.

Well this is interesting http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=5602&page=3 so it seems Visual Basic has had some enhancements to it. I know it used to be pretty abysmally slow.

SQL Server is the database it pokes it in. We can then export to Excel if we so wish.

Uh... Regal sucks because he lied about coming over seas!!!
