I'd just like to shout out a heaping HELLO to all of y'all here on the forums, and that I am a recent recipient of RM3, and hopin to make a few games and upload em once I'm done. Got a few ideas in mind, and currently working on the one that seems challenging enough to build fer all of yer amusement and fer me to get back into the swing of things. I haven't made anything since RM1 first came out, so this should be interesting.

Wish me luck, and nice meeting all of ya.

Hey, welcome to the mag!
I'm an RPGM3 user too. I haven't finished any game yet, but I'm making some progress so far.
Good luck on your projects.

Hi, I am currently using RPGM3 as well, bad limitations, but there's ways around most of it, never completed a project yet, but I have my hopes up. :\

Welcome to the Mag and good luck with your projects!!! :D

Alrighty, since I started this thread, i figured instead of adding more threads, I'll hijack this and ask a quick question about setting up something in RPGM3... I've started getting a fair amount of work done in my game, and I want to test play stuff, but the one thing I still haven't figured out without going into an unending loop is how to set up an automatic storytelling event when you first access a map, have the story play out and move on, never to see that particular story told after that...
What am I supposed to do here? I haven't been able to figure it out, is it an auto event(invisible I assume) that I need, and if so, how do I make it function? Yargh?!

You create a single Event with 2 modes. Event mode 1 is Auto triggered with code running the storyteller and mode self switching and event mode 2 is touch or button triggered with no code in it.

It does not have to be invisible. You can let it function as a decorative object if you can put it out of reach, or make it whatever appearance you want and hide it depending on the type of layout you are using.

The first mode you set to auto trigger and the second mode either leave as touch or set to button trigger, but not auto, cause that will cause a loop.

In event mode 1, create a script code line that plays the storyteller (which is under Control Type) and then another script code line that follows it that switches the event to mode 2 (which is under Property Control Type and called ‘Modify Mode’.

Once this mode is switched to mode 2, you will have to either touch it or press the button next to it to trigger it, but even if the player could get to it, the event code of script 2 with have no lines so nothing would happen.

EDIT: If the player could get to in while it is in mode 2, althought nothing would happen because it has no event code contents, it would still cause the event warning exclamation point to show that it is in fact an event and not a decorative object. I think but am not sure that this is the case even for invisible events.

It seems that if you really need the space, and since this is the type of event that only needs to function once, you might be able to instead of using a mode switching line, use the Display event that let's you turn on and off the display of events and instead of self switching, have a single event, with only one mode, and use the line of code after the storyteller to turn off the display of itself. Then it is like it was never even placed in that spot.

Dammit dammit son of a *bleepy bleep*! That's the one thing I was getting wrong, that second mode was on auto... remind me not to cook anything on my stove... I might fall asleep... Wow... Haha, thanks!
