Seeing as Studios are more of the creator's forums, it's understandable for double/tripple posting to happen.

I'm pretty sure creators would like people to know of these updates as just editing posts won't send e-mails or update the parenting forum. But in forum etiquette, it's still frowned upon.

What say you?

I dunno, I guess I'm just trying to get the Dev. Descussion something to talk about.

Personally, I do it. But I do feel kind of noobish because of it. But what can you do, eh?

yeah, I sorta fealt like a noob the first time I double posted in my studio...

But it's needed, for the same reasons you said. People don't know that you edited your post.

Like you said, editing posts neither send e-mails or give any indication that they've been updated, so when you have an update related to the topic in hand, double-posting is necessary.

This is true...

K, how 'bout this: Does anyone feel discouraged when no one replies?

I mean, I know it's kind of hard to reply... but without anyone saying anything... you kind of thinking that no one really cares.

But I've always been in the state of mind that I like the work I'm doing, reguardless if no one else does.

I only get discouraged if nobody replies when I want replies. A lot of my updates are just "here's what's going on" type of posts, not really looking for opinions. But others, yeah, replies are nice.

Same except for that last part... I sometimes feel like there is no reason for me to make this game if no one cares.

I actually take an "I'll show them. My game will be awesome!" mentality.

I get self-gratification from the work I do.

I know that if no one plays it, I will. I mean, when I first started it, I made it for myself. I wasn't even a member of the Mag for another year after I first started it's creation.

Seeing as I established the Mag in order to give people such feedback, I can understand where you guys are coming from.

I know the sting of no replies on a topic. That's why I try my hardest to push you Devs out there. And I try to reply when I can. At the very least, I've read all of your posts in any forum.

Needless to say, I'm a busy man. :p

lmao, indeed.

I will be honest. I haven't replied much in other people's studios.... But I do read them. I'll try to be a bit more active if I can.

I joined up with the Mag many months ago, but I didn't do anything here
until I had a complete game posted under my name. Probably wasn't
necessary to wait before joining in, but I did get a studio with no questions
asked because I'd already published a game.

My first "game progress" thread was at GameFAQs, for my first game. It
had a lot of progress updates posted in it, and a lot of feedback as well.
I'm not sure what "double post" means. If it means "posting again in your
own thread"... well, I do that a lot. If I made a new topic every time I
wanted to update my progress, there'd be a gazillion threads. The "game
progress" thread at GameFAQs was kind of like a journal to me. After the
project was over, I looked back through the whole thing and marveled at
all the challenges I had faced and documented. And some good feedback
from some good people, too.

I'm not sure if anyone here has even played my game or cares to. But
first and foremost I made it for me. I have to say, it was quite a treat to
play through the completed thing and see the result of months of work.
Not all of the work was done solely for my benefit. Late in the
development process, I had a complete game, per se. The core material
was all in place, but there were no townspeople or side quests or any of
the extras that help to flesh the whole thing out (item descriptions and
stuff). I put an extra two months of work into those things so it would be
a complete game in every way. I might've been satisfied with just the
core material, but a lot of work went into the extras for the benefit of
other players. I also tweaked the heck out of the thing, for my benefit
because I'll know the difference, but also in an attempt to make the
product as good as possible for those who will be downloading it.

I'd be happy to see commentary from anyone who plays the game, and
commentary about unifinished projects as well. My first game owes much
of its success to those who were around me on that GameFAQs board, and
those who opened their mouths and said something. So yes, please do
open your mouths and participate. And if I play your game, I'll definitely
be talking about it, in your forum or elsewhere. There are a couple of
studios here that I look at regularly as well.

Double-posting would be making two posts in a row in the same topic. Like if I posted a second time after this post before giving someone else a chance to reply. It's generally frowned upon in online forums; most would tell you to simply edit your last post instead of making a new one. There are exceptions to the rule, of course. Making updates in your game's topic is one of them.

Yeah, feel really disappointed I don't get any replies.

Specially with the whole Usuru thing. I was fortunate to get Lantis and SK to play it and give me some feedback, but that's about it. On the other hand, it feels like SoE gets all this attenion. May not be the case (they do their own art on fireworks, which is more than I can say), that's just how I FEEL.

I'm the only factor moving my game along. Can't really rely on anything else. When Usuru is out, how many people will actually play it? And out of a group of three, I'm the only one working on the project...

"ALLL BY MY-SELF......" :cry

lol :lol

Boo-hoo, yes i feel the same way with you guys.I feel kinda discouraged when someone doesn't reply on my topic, well some i wanna get replies and some don't.Especially when you made a major update and had to write long sentences and no one replies...>____>

But seeing how this topic is about double posting, well i'm guessing you can do it, i mean you are the mod of that studio and want people to notice about updates, so i'm guessing it's probably okay.

Actually, 1ce.... I haven't touched Fireworks. About the only Macromedia software I really use is like.... Dreamweaver.

Photoshop FTW.

And if it makes you feel better, I've played every non-demo (full) here at the Mag... with acception to few (I'm working on that). Though Wintereenmas sound like a good time of the year to catch back up.

I might be blowing smoke, but I doubt that just because Studios don't get a plethora of posts, means your game won't be played.

I'm more than sure there are guests who come to the site and just play the games without getting involved in the forums.

Eventually, I want to give almost every studio a full spread in the Mag. It will take a massive amount of time, though.

Or if you have a game, (perhaps pictures) and time to make a writeup of yourself, then I could simply post it. Just a few loose ideas.

Where "writeup" = X

X = ?

I can't say I'd suggest that. It would be more of an ad than a review or anything. Not many people will point out bad aspects of their game... if they even think they exsist.
