Did I mention how great RGPM2's music is? And such a wide variety, with 68 songs within 12 categories, you'd be hard-pressed to be unable to find just the right song for that cutscene you made. You almost do the tool injustice by trying to create a custom song from the lackluster amount of instrument sound effects it provides. Granted, I'm gonna create custom music for one of my games, anyway (or at least attempt to), but I want to create a game that uses the provided music as well.

In fact, I might just go ahead and do that. I already accidentally created a game credits sequence perfectly timed with the music, which I don't want to go to waste. Ah, but what to make the game about? Maybe the music that aspires me can also help inspire me.

You can always lower the pitch of the music and slow down the tempo. You will get some very interesting results. Custom music is good too, maybe you can make a game about you making a game lol. It would be sort of new.

Yeah, and if you listen closely you can hear alot of music inspired from other games. (And sound effects too.)

Like for example, in one of the boss or battle themes (can't remember) the very beginning and when it repeats sounds exactly like the Final Fantasy VII battle theme.

One of the cursor sound effects is the exact same sound effect that the cursor used in Final Fantasy VII also.

And one of the Cancel sound effects is the exact same Cancel sound effect that Final Fantasy VII used.

Lots of Final Fantasy VII inspriations...

The problem I have with simply changing the tempo is that it's still the same song, even if it does sound different. It does do the job in some cases (I actually did that for the first two levels in Jester's Hunt), but you're still relying on the same music that everyone else is.

But hey, I'm not about to pass up this tool's music entirely. Just imagine Theme 4 playing at a ruined castle in the middle of a storm. Definately gotta have that somewhere in my game.

Hunter, I already have a game like that planned out, but it's for RPGM1, and not going to be moved to RPGM2 (for reasons I'd rather not specify).

Facts, Boss 3 reminded me of FF7's battle theme also, though it doesn't sound exactly like it. Other sound effects are just generic. If anything, RPGM2 borrowed heavily from the Dragon Quest series (Sounds 1-24 spring to mind). Though I have a few times considered making a battle theme featuring the classic battle theme opener of the FF games (Harp and Bass), and remixing The Prelude and Fanfare.

You know, all of a sudden I'm wondering why I posted such a generic topic in here. :P It seems that I actually have the power to move it to the Dev. Forum if I wanted. But it almost seems like a waste (and a slight "oops I made a mistake, FIX'D" power abusal).

EDIT: Yeah, I decided that the topic is just too vaguely related to be restricted to a dev. studio.
EDIT2: But apparently, moving a stickied topic into a forum where you don't have power means it stays stickied until somebody with power comes along and fixes it. A little help, higher-ups?

And notice one thing:

http://www.rpgmmag.com/vault.php

RPG Maker 2 is the only one that doesn't have the MP3 soundtrack on that page. Anyone want to fix that?

I would need it again. I got sidetracked and busy and didn't upload it.

I also remember the files being quite big. But I'll convert them to mp3s instead of wmas.

Another thing, Karmaria, the Suggestions, Comments, and Problems forum would be a good place for this in the future.

I did not even notice that this was not a good thread for the question!

Sorry.

Good thing it's not my job...

Here is one HUGE wma file.

Dungeon:

http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?a ... BE7815F0A7

I never edited it down and I use all freeware, so someone with better equipment could probably make better mp3's.

Let me know if this is good.

I have the rest and just need to upload it if this is good enough quality.

Moo.

It's not bad, but why is it all in one file? Is that how it got extracted?

The ones I have are:

Castle, Explore, Music, and Town.

And don't worry about it. I can compress them down mightly. I shaved 100MB off the 4 of those.

And this was an okay place to put it, but it's lucky it got my attention. A topic there would be more noticeable.

Oh no...

It got captured in ONE HUGE FILE.

I then saw the file size and broke it up by recapturing 4 or 5 times..

I used my Video capture thingy to act as an input for the Windows Media Encoder freeware.

Is crap, but it works and is free.

I'll make a list of what files I have for uploading tomorrow.

Gonna havva Bizzy Knight!

Oyy..

Sorry...but Land2 from RPGM will ALWAYS have a spot in my heart. :p

I used it in the RPGM3 weapon video and I play it on my
sax all the time.

Hmm...I should make a recording of my saxophon-ized RPGM music. :p

^ I would like to hear it. Is the sax the only thing you play? I use to play the viola in school. I did not get very far with it. I had trouble reading the music. But I was good with playing by ear.
