I know most people will consider this a stupid question, but here it goes:
I am currently working on the opening cutscene in my first game. In this cutscene, the character that my main character is talking to is supposed to move a few spaces to the right and up. How do I do this?

Please don't take this the wrong way, but have you even tried checking out all the options in RPGM1? There aren't a ton of them, and most aren't difficult to figure out (with the possible exception of Take Overs and everything related to Switches).

Is the person talking to the main character the event that's running, or is it a separate event?

No offense taken, Draygone. There are two events. The first event displayed a prologue message, then a takeover to a second event, during which a sprite that the main character is talking to is supposed to move a few spaces. I have checked out many guides, but I am not sure how to make it work. At first I used "move location" but I realized that it is used for teleporting the party, after I read some stuff. The only other command I found that involved moving things was "move party" and that obviously wasn't right.

I think the event command you want is at the top of the list on the page with Move Party. It includes several different sub-options for events, including moving events, changing their graphics, and making the current event stop working altogether (as far as telling it what to do and page-switching) until after you use Move Location.

Thank you! However, I have one last (I hope) question. It is about the start point. I understand that the start point is where your start party, well, starts. But what if there is a cutscene that doesn't involve the party that you would like to have at the beginning of the game? How could I do this?

Start the party where you want the "camera" to start off, and in the intro event, use a Party Disappear command (it's under one of the party options).
