how can i make an event where a character wants me to find something and when the player gives it back a diffrent event happen?

Aha!Well, actually that's a pretty simple matter Duelpro!After you found the item (Oh yeah give me where does this event goes, treasure chest or a standard event) just modify the event of the character that lost the item.To the event will happen with item.

So..... I went through and typed a whole guide to Event changing. Step-by-Step. I went to post it and my account had timed out. So... All of that for nothing really pissed me off but.... Here is where I learned it from. Hope this helps!

Are you not sure how variables work? Maybe this can be help you understand some of the programming logic. You will accept a coin from Floppy, the coin-giving mythical beast. After receiving a coin, you will then deposit the coin in the wishing well. Depending on which coin you choose, you will get a different result.

Please note that the end result is a very basic event. There are many other things that can be done. While following this step by step guide, note the information at the bottom of the screen, especially in the Event Code Editor. Reading that information as you go along can be extremely helpful.

CREATE THE THREE TREASURES:
In the main menu, click on the box in the upper right hand corner, and press X.

i wanted to know how to make an event where you have to find a key and return it to an old man!

First of all, it was quite the surprise to see my entire Variable Sample Event posted on here. I had nothing to do with that, believe me. Not that I don't appreciate the support ytdrummer, but that guide does take up quite a lot of space. That's why I originally posted it as a zipped document to be placed in the "Resources" section on the front page.

Anyway, Duelpro,
To do what you want (a very basic explanation), this might help.

In the event code of the old man create a VAL conditional branch. Let's say using shared variable 7, for instance.

If Shared Variable 7 = 0
Message Display - "I really need my key."
If Shared Variable 7 = 1
Message Display - "You found my key. That's great."
Remove Treasure Item - Key
Modify Shared Variable 7 (to 2)
If Shared Variable 7 = 2
Message Display - "I won't forget you, Finder of my key."


In the event code of the find key event.

Add Treasure Item - Key
Modify Shared Variable 7 (to 1)
display off - find key event

Here's what will happen. Every time you talk to the old man, he will say "I really need my key." Once you find the key, variable 7 will switch to 1. Then the next time you talk to the old man, he will say "You found my key. That's great." The key will then be removed from your inventory. Shared variable 7 will then change to 2. From then on out, the old man will say, "I won't forget you, Finder of my key."

You will probably want to add other things like giving money or sound effects or character motions, etc.
