Where do i start where i can build health bars, Cbs's adn other things.

I want to build a health bar, how??

I want to build a thing where you can attack in the field, for example like a legend of zelda game, where you can slash a sword.

You can use the vfx editor to make your lifebar. But you need to use some variables and flags for that. For Cbs's there are too many types of cbs's, I have 3 types of zelda cbs's. The first one is slow, the second one is a little better but rugged the third is close to zelda but it could be mistaken for another game like shining force. But anyway there are alot of ways to create them you just got to get to know the variables and what they can do.

Do not get ahead of yourself!

It will take at least a month to get good enough to even consdier going beyond the basics!!

Check my post in the tips and tricks thread for some stuff that may help.

I have a great tutorial (if I do say so myself) on Doors and Chests there as well as serving as the pre-prologue to my VFX Editor Guide... You can't use VFX until you understand how scripts work!) (yeah, you can make stuff... but you will be unable to use it!)

Then read my VFX Editor Guide!

And by all means, forget the CBS!!

Make a short simple game to get used to the controls and for practise before tackling your "real" project.

If you ignore that advice you will be sorry and may wind up trashing a lot of hard work!!

Yeah you can. Its all about the story and how well its done. You can modify your regular battle system.

With RPGM1, people will sometimes expect a good CBS to add a higher level of quality to a game. But for RPGM2, people understand how difficult it very well may be to create a well-working CBS; it's about the beauty of the story, how you handle the plot, and how well the characters develop.

In fact, you could even create a pure-puzzle game with RPGM2, without battles, which is also pretty fun. I actually made an RPGM2 game (well, I started to make it) that didn't have any battles whatsoever, but would evolve around choices, jokes, puzzles and mini-games (I did however start on a racing minigame, but it never went anywhere).

Though it's still understandable if there isn't one. CBSs on RPGM1 take up a ton of memory, which results in shorter memory cards. Which is a problem if you want to cram as much stuff on a single memory card as you want.

True. In fact, I ran into the same problem when I tried to make a game that ran off of a CBS, and I attempted to ignore the regular battle system all together. What wound up happening was that I ran out of memory on my scenario data memory card before I was into 30 minutes of the actual playtime.

One thing I did once was, with one of my old games (which is gone now) was make the game run off of a normal battle system all the way through, but at the end I included a CBS. I think it was pretty good, and that it had a nice effect. There was the main boss fight using the main battle system right at the end, then your had to do battle using a CBS. I believe it worked out well.

I do not like battles in RPGs!

A CBS means very little to me except to show off your programming skills.

You can still modify all the enemy actions and models, create custom VFX for them and your spells and weapons, and more. All without touching the battle system scripts!

The default system can be boring, but a little study can change the messages shown to something silly!

Start slowly or you may wind up among the many who said RPGM2 was too hard (when really all that happened was that they overreached too soon). Imagine getting a book on C++ and thinking you could just go make a game using it and start the first day you got the book! It is obvious that a little study should come first.

Make a game or make a game with the complexity and amount of stuff RPGM2 offers?

Sure, you can make tic-tac-toe in a couple hours, but that is not the kind of game I meant!

I am looking into making javascript games for websites in order to kill the original intent of this topic.

Before that even. You have to take your PS2 out of the box, put it near your TV, plug the PS2 into some power, plug the video/audio into your TV and/or entertainment center, AND flip the switch to give the PS2 power. And I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Oh yes. You have to buy the PS2. And a PS2 memory card dedicated to saving your RPGM stuff on.

I HIGHLY recommend purchasing a USB keyboard, or preferably cord to convert a keyboard's signal into USB. I forget what type of connection standard keyboards use, and I'm pretty sure it varies anyway.

When I got one of the cords it increased my productions speed three or four times!

Staples should carry both of these things along with any other generic office supply store.
