Probably you'll want to create the first place in your game. If you start in a town, create the town. If you start on a field map, create the field map. When you're building maps, you have to also keep in mind any future areas and events that will occur. If you know there's going to be a dungeon hidden on the eastern continent, make sure you build that eastern continent for the dungeon to go on.
