Ok, in my game, I have one section where when you walk on an invisible event, it changes bgm, then event take-over "wife" ncp. Then goes about making her do some motions and dialogue.

But for some reason, when I had two people gametest it, it didn't work.

It changed the bgm, but it didn't take over. For what ever reason, I can't figure out why.

It works for me, but no one else. I also noticed this problem in other parts, where I wanted to take-over a ncp. It wouldn't do it.

I can't figure out what the problem is....

The Day / Night problem suggested at the Pavilion does sound like the most likely cause.

If that is not it, try restructuring.

Use auto events to transition events based on variables.

Contrary to some posts I have seen, you can have many auto events on a single map. But only one can be running at a time.

So if there are a few whose conditions are based on variables that change during events on that map, just have the event do it's thing and change the variable back.

That's how I got my first cut scene flowing smooothly.

But it is more likely the Day/Night thing.

Good Luck with it.

Peace.

Rodak may be right about the day/night dilemma. That's happened to me a few times, after which I kicked myself.

But, for what it's worth...if all you need to do is have the wife make some motions and then have a dialogue, you shouldn't even need a takeover. You should be able to control the wife's movements from the invisible event.

There is no way to make a ncp do a motion without actually doing it in the NCP's event page.

At least from what I have seen.

Oh, Vonwert, I hope I didn't make a mistake with what I said. I remember creating an event and having an animal NPC go through some motions. I'll have to check it out again. I was almost sure...well, sorry if I misled you. I'm going to try to check this out in the morning before work.

Sure ya can.

I do it all the time.

Did you see the scene I posted with the frogs or the one with the farmer and clown?

They were all done in that manner.

Which is why I suggested restructuring to this format.

Give it a shot.

Peace.

Okay, after messing around a bit, here's what I found out. This probably isn't new to anyone, but at least I learned something.

In the scripting of an event, you can program other event animations to take place by selecting "display" then "play animation" and then selecting the event whose animation you want to kick in.

In the scripting of an NPC, you can program other NPCs to move by selecting "display" then "play motion" and then selecting the NPC whom you want to move.

I guess, however, that you can't script character movements from within an event script.

Okay, well oops, Vonwert. My bad!

Regarding event takeover though....
Set up an invisible event set to go off at "touch"
under "control" select "event transitions"
choose the event and mode you want to transition to
It should work fine. I just tried it out. I walk up to the invisible event. When my character touches that point, my NPC Queen bows down in the distance. It could be that the mode you have it set to is incorrect. I don't know. Alright, well, off to bed. Good night, all.
