Ok i fixed it. The game is called The Fairy gods. Where an ordinary but wakes up from a good nights sleep. He then starts to hear a strange voice coming out of nowhere. He tells his grandpa and sister about it and they laugh. The mysterious voice tells him to go north. When he does he sees a strange, near invisible figure in front of him. The stranger tells him that out of all the bravest heros in the world, He is the only one with enough courage to combat a new evil thats rising. The boy is confused. The stranger than tells him that he needs to go and look for 5 fairy gods. Each of them will give him some of their power , with the power of all five he will be able to win and save eveybody................Theres a catch. The boy will be turned into stone forever. The boy is shocked but knows he has to do it......................Now the journey begins.

Um, I seriously hope that you don't make spelling errors like that in your game.

Anyway, it's kinda interesting, kinda not. For example, how is the boy the most qualified, unless of course it's partly because he's young and only the young can see anything like a Fairy God. The turning into stone bit is an interesting twist, though I'm not sure I'd take the task if I knew about that. Other than that, I'm hoping the story will be a little more intersting than "find the five magical beings to save the world". Doesn't necessarily have to get away from that quest. I'm just saying that you need to make sure the quest for each fairy is interesting. You haven't said anything about the individual quests, but I thought I'd make sure you know that.

I know what you mean. I just thought of the important stuff to post.

So i fixed it again....

Fairy god 1 quest: This is the simplest. All you have to do is beat the
Raid cave dungeon to find her.

Fairy god 2 quest: not as simple. The mystery figure appears again and tells the boy that the 2nd fairy god is frozen because she was infected by the dark evil" power. Now the boy needs to find a special mage in a town and ask him to unfreeze the fairy god.....but one problem. To unfreeze a person or mytical person, 10 Mystic leaves must be found to use the spell to unfreeze her. Now the boy needs to find the 10 Mystic leaves.

The rest you'll need to find out in the game.

The darkness made every hero so darn lazy. The boy always wanted to be a hero, since he always wears a hero costume pretending to be a hero.
This is why he is qualified. But who is the mysterious figure?? and why is he/she helping the boy?? is he/she friend or foe?

This game is for RPG MAKER 1 for the playstation.

Game creation pogress:10% (i am surprised as you are)

This message will now self-destruct in 5.....4.....3....2....1...(you can do the last part :)

I, as taizon, am intrigued by your game. My only concern (apart from my agreement with Draygone's concern) is that it will end up being to cliche. I challenge you to do something original...now ask yourself: "has anybody ever done a quest similar to finding 10 leaves to heal a fairy?".

Give yourself an honest answer and then try to do something that hasn't been in an RPG before. That is, for me the entire point of playing RPG Makers. Other peoples takes on basic themes.

I play all RM games possible, and I can tell you that a reccuring flaw in most games is cliches. Since you like RM1 I would reccomend as a good example Mencarra Revelle. That is probably the best game for RM1 I played...but I haven't played many because after playing it and a few others my Dex Drive was sucked on by a St. Bernard.

Anyway, the point is you have a good basis, but it needs to be fleshed with some originality. If you could do that, keep errors minimalized, and handle the software well: I'd say you have a good game on your hands.

(RM1 is my fav of the 3)

Ah, but it does. If it didn't I would've either called it trash or not posted. I'm just giving you a nudge in the right direction. Good foundation, just needs some story tweaking.

You don't have to completely rework the story, especially if it's one you like, but try to make things more interesting. Like those 10 leaves for example. Perhaps one leave could be obtained in some sort of trade, another leaf you have to prevent being eaten from some monster (perhaps through a boss fight), while another could be found in a mini-game. You'll want to make sure that there's enough variety in the quest. Otherwise, it'll be just another boring fetch quest. If anything, maybe 10 leaves is a little too much.

Advice to you, while you're creating your game, see if you can improve a concept or idea you have. If the idea sucks, make it better. If the idea is good, make it better. Keep trying to make it as good as possible until either you've run out of ways to make the idea better, or you've spent too long on that one spot. Some people have a little trouble knowing when to move on. *points to self*

WOW!! you guys are right! ill just add 3 leaves(but each with a diffrent event!!)

Question: my game is trying to escape the boring old "beat the dungeon go to the next" because i think this is clechied. So thats why i added objectives with a little bit of dungeons to spice up the game. Do people wanna play an rpg with all dungeons??

also when i make my town theres a switch thingy. what does it do and can it help my game.??

Guilty. I've been known to spend days tweaking a map...or song for that matter.

But Draygone makes more good points than that, just make the best game you can. That is the problem with games these days (on RPGMs), people just want to make a game and get it out there. They don't care if they, or anyone else thinks it's good-they just want to make a game.

If you still want good examples of innovative stories, since you don't have a dexdrive, there are some really good games for RM2. And the best of those tend to be at the Domain (doanthenado.com). Try there for some games.

And, I don't mind dungeons at all. But they have to be good dungeons. GOOD. If they aren't, and I'm stuck wandering through a poorly designed maze with disproportionately powerful monsters, I won't play it. Do good (original) design, and I don't care.

you are right. But i have just one BIG thing holding me back to make my hopefully super cool game and it is....................

LEVEL BALANCE!!!!!!

i know such a noobish question!!!

i need to balance armor weapons magic and levels

I have to write down levels and magic points on my notebook to balance this out!! any other ways to balance these things??

You will forget what i just said in 5...4...3...2....1 (you can do the last part :)

Not noobish at all, thats probably one of the hardest things about making a game-And one of the things that can jack it up the worst if you do it wrong.

But, you pretty much have to design your own system for it though...eventually it'll com easy enough, but we all have our own methods I suspect.

I make my main character, and all his companions, and give him his stats. Once thats done, I make an enemy and I make an event where you battle that enemy. Then I fine-tune the stats using that every time I make a change. Then I'll base (copy from) all the monsters off of that monster, and if there are any more changes necessary I'll use the test method.
