Within the last four weeks I know of two members who have lost RPG Maker data. And this is something that a game creator should never have to suffer. SK and I had this happen once. We lost a full 15 block scenario card once. It was back when Arc Arath was on it's fourth scenario card, going on fifth. Since then we have adopted what I can only really call backup whoring.

ANY time we do work, it is backed up off the card, on to my computer, then copied on my flash drive on my keychain, then is sent to SK via email, and I have yet another copy on my work computer. And even then, I keep monthly master copies just in case we managed to accidentally save over the wrong scenario.

If you are working on a PC maker and DON'T have a flash drive, external hard drive, or slaved hard drive (which you should), then email it to yourself as an attachment. Other options are:
Mediafire
Sendspace
Dropbox
Google Drive (requires Gmail account)

There are several other options for you, all of which are free. Though if you are using a console maker, your options are limited and not so free. For PS1, there is the Dex Drive, which you should be familiar with if you've worked with RPG Maker 1. If you are using PS2, buy one of the several PS2 card backing up tools like Max Drive or Shark Port. It's worth the cost. And it's better to buy them and not need them... than it is to need them and not have them. Once you have them on your computer, you can use the previous suggestions for further backups.

You'd think there wouldn't be a need for this kind thread. But that's unfortunately not the case. So... what do you use for backups?
