Expect this list to shorten greatly before the week is over.

Okay, I've been working on making sure everything I'm doing will make it the easiest for the user. Though I'm having a bit of an issue.

Firstly, the actual files that each memory card has get's thrown in a few directories (PS3\EXPORT\PSV\). I'd like to just put the saves into that and zip it up so the user can just extract to their usb drive or SD card and just go. But here's the problem: When you have a game that runs on multiple cards and I copy the games cards to my USB drive, it doesn't recognize them as cards anymore and lumps them into the folder as if it were a card that had no block limit (you know, PS1 memory cards only have 15 blocks).

Why this is a problem is that when you copy the data from the USB drive, you have to select a memory card. But the user isn't going to have any idea what scenario data goes with what sprites or which system data. And when you go to load the game, RPG Maker 1 will spazz because the data isn't exactly where it thinks it should be.

When you copy too a PS3 when it's an actual memory card, it copies the entire card as a whole. When you copy too a USB drive FROM a PS3, however, you can't copy the entire card... just the individual blocks. There's no way to copy entire cards. This is a problem.

The only way to get around that is to make a new zip for every card. But then having the PS3\EXPORT\PSV\ folders for each card wouldn't work when you copied all the cards to the same location to move them to the console because you can't have two folders with the same name (and you can't rename the other folders without the PS3 not being able to see it).

With that said, the only way to get this to work is if the user copied only one memory card to a USB drive (or SD card) at a time and copied it to their PS3, then repeat with each.

That's the only real way I see to get around it. Is that cool? If you have any other suggestions, I'm all ears.

As far as I'm aware, this will be the solution we use.

Can't seem to locate these games from out database:

Alorian Saga
Ebony Kismet
Free Knight
Holy War
wait in line

Btw, this will probably take longer than expected. It's a rather slow proccess.

Lantis, for multiple memory card files, I just sort them in folders in the zip archive. card 1, card 2, or SYS 1, SYS 2, SCE 1, SCE 2. it doesnt screw with them when you do that.

and yes, the conversion process is painfully slow. :(

Actually, if they are not in the folders/sub-folders mentioned above, the PS3 won't recognize any files off your device. At first, I second guessed myself, but after trying it out, I was right.

So what I'm going to do is go ahead and convert each card separately, zip it up with the required folders and then just renamed the name of the zip file card 1, card 2, or SYS 1, SYS 2, SCE 1, SCE 2, ect...

As a side note: Holy crap, some people have upwards to 6 + memory cards per game. >______________>

No, you convert them as normal, and then put them together in the zip archive. you don't sort them until you've converted them all.

It's that "putting them all together" part that doesn't work. you can't copy cards as a whole... only individual blocks. Each card HAS to be in it's own zip file with the correct subfolders unless the user somehow magically knows exactly how many cards there are as well as which blocks go to what card.

Let's say there's a guy who has a Scenario Card, a System Card, and a Sprite Card. For whatever reason, he has more than one scenario on one card, and maybe enven two system save on the system card as well as 15 sprites on the sprite card.

Firstly, you could put all those files onto the usb drive. And you CAN copy that all to a computer and zip it up. But then the user will not know what data goes on what card... much less know there are three different cards in the first place.

And even if you took the time to sort them in folders with the appropriate name... they wouldn't be in the required folders and subfolders that the PS3 requires them to be in.

If I went to the Pav and downloaded a game, extracted it to a USB drive and plugged it into a PS3, it wouldn't see it. That's because you have to have those folders... and unless the user has really messed around with their PS3 and these saves before, they'll have no idea that they need to be in a folder with two specifically named sub folders just to be able to copy it to their PS3.

So in my example to be the most user friendly as possible you have to have, at least in some context, a zip file named whatever the scenario card is called with PS3\EXPORT\PSV\ and all the files for that card. Then another zip file that's named whatever the system card was called with PS3\EXPORT\PSV\ and the system files, and then a third sprite card done the exact same way. Then you can zip those three files as a single game.

If you know a tested way that works better, I'm all ears. I'm only as far as the C's, alphabetically.

As a bit of an update, before my PS3 went out, I was able to get as far as the D's in the list of games to convert. Though it's been a while since then so I haven't made all that much progress.

I'll be getting back on this again whenever I free up some time.

On RPG Maker 1, I am starting on the Ms and will continue from there.

I am doing the cross-community games first, so Mag-clusive ones are not counted in my process.

Does that mean you already have Cursed Desires converted?
