Hiya everyone.I came to this forum because I am interested in rpg maker 3.I am tired of playing games that you can't modify stuff and create your own character.I tried playing mmorpg but those are a ever ending drug.

I thought of making my own game for instance, just for fun.A rpg with some mmorpg flavor of mine.Like making forbidden weapons, rare items etc etc.I won't make a career out of it.I was thinking of maybe getting rpg maker 3.What do you guys have to say to me before bying it? I know it's going to be a new experience and hard but I am willing to take the challenge.

I only have one thing to say to you.

If you do buy the game, make sure all the text in the game you make does not look like what you just typed.

Or I will STAB you.

I moved it to RM Dev and Help.

And to answer you questions, I think RPG Maker 3 is the easiest of all the RPG Makers. With the idea you posted about the MMO, RM3 might be great for it.

However, just keep in mind that RM3 is a strictly fantasy set of graphics. You won't be making a .Hack game on this. Everything in the game is pre-made, so you can't customize the buildings and all that.

Check the pictures we have in the News Room:
http://www.rpgmmag.com/news_room.php

to see if that kind of style would fit what you need.

2-Can I make my characters travel from a boat?

3-Can I make the user use the same save data of my old game and make a new game that the user can use is save date into my new game?(Sorry for my english )

4-Can I make an alternate dimension area like Dynamis in ffxi?

1. 99

2. There are no vehicles that you can control. However, there's a ballon that use can use to simulate air travel, although you won't see it move or anything.

3. Not quite, but maybe. The Long RPG Trick:
http://www.rpgmmag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=817

might help you.

4. I've never played FF11, but as long as you use what RM3 has inside, then I'd say yes.

1. Max Drives are in heavy production. You should be able to find one in a game speciality store, Wal-Mart or Ebay.

2. Yeah. You could make three different characters with the same name and abilities (but different classes, naturally), and then give players a choice there. Then, add the character based on the selection.

3. I think it was that you could register 30 Fields (world maps) and 300 Dungeons/Towns. I don't have the game in front of me, and I don't know off-hand.

4. Monsters are renameable. :)

2-Can you remane the weapons also?

3-Can you add special attributes to each weapons?Like add 999 dmg etc.?

1. Yeah, 100 character limit is true. On the field, you can have a decent amount of different monsters on it. Not exactly sure on the number, though.

2. Yep.

3. Maybe not add 999 damage, but other stuff.

So I'm just gonna add to it.

I made 2 character, 4 monsters, 2 villages, and a continent complete with islands. I was under the impression that when it said "Save **** information" - It did. I was able to go back between editors and preview, add, preview - so forth.

Then I turned the PS2 off. Now it's all gone. :cry

Is there another save that I'm suppose to hit that I missed? Everytime it said "save World" or Save character" information - I thought it did to the memory card.

Nah, that just saves the changes temporarily. I can see how that could be confusing if you've never used RPG Maker.

However, the one you want is called "Data Management" (in the bottom right corner of the main 4 options (The World, etc).

It'll ask you to save to the memory card there. You'll also see the percentage of the database you've used, as wel.

Tough break on the save, though. I remember doing the same thing with the original RPG Maker. I was quite pissed. :p

Thanks for the pat on the shoulder. (^_^)

Now a question:

Off www.agetec.com's RPG maker page, they have this listed

Compatibility Specs:
1 Player; Memory Card 2705KB Above; Internal hard disk drive (40GB) (for PlayStation®2); USB Keyboard

This was why earlier I was worried I might really need the 40gb.
Now, after all the "typing" I've done, I'm tempted to buy a USB keyboard.
Has anyone here tried the USB keyboard to see if it works?
