And you're able to type in every one of RPGM1's text commands, including the odd symbols?

Yes.

You can type in every character on the RPGM1 keyboard, even the special symbols (heart, male symbol, etc).

• Price: $35 + Shipping (the cost of shipping depends on where you live, ~$10 is a fair estimate).

• The lead-time for an order of a single controller may be as much as two weeks (lots of wires to solder & test all by hand, and shipping transit time may take as much as 7 days, depending on where you live).
• First-come first-serve (with the exception of the first three units, one of which will be going to Ix & two to Lantis)

Well, if everyone's using that sort of logic, it's no wonder nobody's using it anymore.

I checked it out when I first came here, but saw that there were no updates for quite some time. So I figured it was dead.

It is dead. But that doesn't mean it can't still be updated. I mean, I did with my LPs.

Likewise I did with Josh's Adventure. The wiki isn't that active, but it does get updated sometimes.

Anyway, when can I sign up for one of these things?

I'll open pre-orders once I finish the first production model. So it might be a week or two yet. I'm waiting on some wire, and now have both college & work to contend with.

Basically, people will post in a topic (that I'll open later) to reserve their spot in line (first come, first serve) and when I have fulfilled the previous order, the next person will pay (via paypal), I'll make the Kupid unit, and then send it to them.

So, everyone will have to be a bit patient. Ix & Lantis are getting the first three, after those are made, then the first person to place their pre-order will get one.

I just got the wire. And a boat-load of homework. But, the wire is nice and thin (32 AWG), so it should work well.

Before I get the first production model built, I'm going to try building one inside of a third-party controller. This particular controller has some bare solder-pads and holes in the PCB that would make it a lot faster to manufacture units with (I wouldn't have to spend so much time scraping the solder-mask off of the tiny traces with an exacto knife). Hopefully that will work out well.

I'll post updates as I go along.

Below is a photo of the experimental Kupid unit with the wires soldered to the PCB of a third-party controller. It took about 5-10 minutes to solder these wires, versus an hour or more with the Sony brand controller. With this controller, I don't have to use hot-glue to secure the wires, or worry about routing the wires around trouble spots since the third-party controller has convenient holes drilled into the PCB already! Plus the controller has a clear body, so I can see inside it from a number of different angles as I'm doing my work; this makes it a lot easier to get the wires and components positioned correctly for when I close it up (and it will make the completed unit look pretty cool ).

I really hope this experiment works out, 'cause this third party controller is a joy to work with, and it would make manufacturing each Kupid take less time. But I haven't done any testing of it yet, so we'll see what happens.
