If you have problems with your avatar showing, first delete the current avatar, then reupload. It should work.

There's been quite a few big avatars out there, so I think it's time to register some new avatar dimension guidelines.

The new dimensions are 150 x 150. In addition, remote url linking of an avatar will be turned off Sunday, November 20th, 2005. In its place, you may upload avatars to the Mag instead.

If Lone agrees to the plan, then it's going into effect.

.. The only person I know of that is outside a 150x150 limit is NLY. mine is within that proposed limit, so asking me to conform doesn't really do much. I have to agree with that part, though.

To my knowledge, there is just one person going beyond that limit. Proposing a limit because of it may seem a little harsh but it will save us problems in the future should it ever come up again.

However, I would suggest keeping remote linking on.

Yep.

im sorry. but its annoying. right now its set to80x80 at 6kb... so everyone is using the url linking..which has no limit at all and make a person think they can just put in anything...which will be huge.

I asked you to "confirm", not conform. :p

But, since you say so, remote linking will stay on. But if push comes to shove, it might have to go on. Probably won't get that bad, though.

Oh, confirm. Yeah.

f*ck. I'm really tired.

...

Well if remote linking cant be limited then sure, turn it off, but remove the stupid bitsize limit on uploaded avvies and make it 150x150. But if it can be limited then I would just limit the remote-linked sizes.

Remote linking can't be controlled by the size restraits we have. Only works for uploads.

I've changed the bitsize to about 100kb. If it's bigger than that, then shrink that mofo.

whatever, if its causing problems ill take it off.

although my avvy is not huge or anything, I dont really see why you have to define such rigid boundaries here.

meh.

It's not because of anyone in particular, but there's been a lot of newbs with big, table-destroying avatars. They don't know what the official size is, and then we have to tell them about shrinking it. That's a headache, so we have official guidelines now.

They should have been instituted earlier, but everyone just forgot.

eh, i have not seen anyone with massively huge avvys... or at least not noticed them. what about the avvy's like bonanza's and emma's that are not too wide but they are long? do those wreck tables?

meh, either way at least this doesn't affect me since i don't have an avvy or a sig or even a custom title.
