Im not talking about family guy ect...
I mean what the kids watch these days.
When i flip through the channels and i see nicklodeon, it seems im more drawn to Avatar(its a good show) than some cartoon about a kid that can end world hunger with his fairy godparents but doesn't. I still watch those kind of shows to see if they actually appeal to me or if there is at least some kind of innovation like the casts of characters. the best kid cartoons i've seen are:

Invader Zim
Tiny toons
freakazoid.

Maybe its becuase i just like anime. or that i hate shows that are drawn like some artist being lazy. Im not sure. It seems slap stick gross out humor appeals to more people(like me :) than the repititive one liners that most cartoons have. But of course its for kids but do kids like watching these kind of shows anyway?

I'm not sure but what about everyone else? I want to hear your opinion.

Cartoons have been losing quality since the turn of the century. But that doesn't mean the occasional good one still pops up. Avatar, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and probably a few others.

I do miss the old cartoons. I've been collecting their theme songs in youtube. (From the older ones like He Man, She Ra, thundercats, to the less older ones like animaniacs and Pinky and The brain) I saw must of them in spanish tough. I loved Freakazoid, who was called Fenomenoide here.
And I sang the Tiny Toons Adventure Theme song along. And I still remember it :rolleyes
Maybe I'm just weird.

naw... not weird.

I feel the same.

But look at it this way. When we were younger and got up early to watch our Saturday cartoon, we were easily amused. I think as we get older and out tastes change, we ween away from cartoons. Not Cartoons in general, but the ones that come out after the ones we use to watch. We will have a thing for the ones we watched... and we don't like the newer ones because of just that. They aren't our old ones.

I dunno, shows like DuckTales still hold up pretty well compared to shows of this century. It isn't entirely nostalgia.

I can't agree with you on that one, Lantis. Even if I didn't miss the cartoons from back in our day, I would still easily say that the cartoons of today SUCK.

... Guarionex, you definitely couldn't be the only one around here who sang the theme to Tiny Toon Adventures (I remember singing it as a kid even when it *wasn't* being played on the TV at the moment).

I swear, the cartoons nowadays suck balls except for a few:

Avatar: The Last Airbender is an absolute masterpiece. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD (OR NOT GOD FOR ATHIESTS), WATCH THIS SHOW. It's that good. Take it from me. I rate all the shows I watch (mainly anime, but still), and I've only given a score of 10 to the following:

Tenchi Universe (full series)
Tenchi: The Movie
Outlaw Star (full series)
Avatar: The Last Airbender (in-progress)

Oh, Spongebob is funny on occasion, but it turns me off sometimes with so much stupidity in it.

Fairly Oddparents is humorous, too.

Other than that, it's much crap.

I only wish I could watch Avatar. No TV, and I don't want to use my grandparents', even though they live next-door. I'd go out and buy the Book One DVD set, but the price is a bit steep for me.

BTW, did they get to any episodes that were made after the uncle (or was it grandfather) character actor's death? I'm wondering what they did, whether editing his death into the TV series like Nick did with the teacher in As Told By Ginger, or simply gave him a new (hopefully similar) actor.

Cartoon Network isn't doing much better right now. There's Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and there's... I can't think of anything else. I'm sure there's at least one more that's still in production.

I don't know why, but Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends actually makes me laugh at some times. But if I were the human running that home I probably would have hung myself a long time ago.

But Cartoon Network's pretty much gone bad in the last few years, too, just like Nickelodeon (Aqua Teen Hunger being a prime example).

Why don't they bring the old shows back?

I'd like to once again mention DuckTales. My 5-year-old and 3-year-old cousins like to watch it. It didn't die because it started sucking, it died simply because a) it had to be bumped off Disney Afternoon eventually and b) it was during the early hours on Toon Disney and eventually bumped off because Disney apparently thought it would be a good idea to have 1 or 2 hours of back-to-back episodes of their newer shows.

Oh, and c) they did a lousy job with the DVD sets. My Wal-Mart doesn't even carry them.
