Democrats have the House of Representatives now, with a tough Senate battle going on in Montana and Virginia.

Dems are leading slightly in both states.

Really, this election doesn't affect anything in my world. I couldn't care less who's running the country.

The real choice is...who do you want to run the country into the ground: a brown bear or a black bear.

Well I'm happy that the Dems gained some control, so now we won't have one party running everything and calling the shots. Though a lot gets done when that happens, it's also a bit of a problem when a lot gets done. It would be nice to see their always be a split of power between the legislature and executive so that way they can check and balance each other. It would be nice to see people not play party politics, but it's hard to break such a long running tradition. I wish we could see the rise of a 3rd party to provide a different choice for the people besides two essentially similar parties.

So with the Senate still up for grabs with it being 49 R to 50 D and a tie means the Republicans still have control of the Senate. So if the Congress is split I expect it to be very quiet in the government over the next 2 years as nothing will get passed on either side. If the Dems take both, who knows what will happen, though likely we will be out of Iraq. Hopefully things like the Patriot act and other encroachments of our freedoms will be overturned.

Of course personally I consider myself to be closest to a Libertarian which really doesn't agree with Republicans or Democrats. I'm for less government in general. That way you don't have to worry about beauracratic waste.
