An excerpt from the latest Michael Crichton. I read it a while back, and found this bit really interesting....

And even more amazingly, they are convinced that the environment of the entire planet is being destroyed around them. Remarkable! Like the belief in witchcraft, it’s an extraordinary delusion– a global fantasy worthy of the Middle Ages. Everything is going to hell, and we must all live in fear. Amazing.â€

btw, the PLM is an invention (probably it exists) referred to as the political-legal-media complex. or something.

I agree and fully object to the rampant fear-mongering that's been happening. Every day, there's some type of story trying to scare people.

6 o'clock news:
"Something in the food you're eating for dinner MIGHT KILL YOU! News at 11."

I don't live in a state of fear, such as described.

don't you? what about the global fixation on terrorism? do you not worry that maybe the next time you get on a plane, it'll end badly? not even for a second?

i'll admit, i worry about stuff. But then again, i guess thats different to being irrationally paranoid. And paranoia is what the 'state of fear' is all about. So by a winding route, i agree with you. ^_^ aren't you glad you read all that now?

I mean that I don't, mentally, live in a state of fear. And I've never been on a plane, but the only thing I fear would be it crashing.

Well this country wants a good story even if its going to scare a half dozen of the country. Just last night they said on the news that if you excercised and diet you will still get fat. Even if you eat once a day and its a protein shake. Because of that many people are scared what to do next to lose weight or get a bit healthier.
