Well a Chinchilla looks like a rat to me. I see nothing cute about that, because rats, unlike mice, are not cute. Wonder how long one would survive in the presence of a cat?

I also don't remember rats being all that cuddly either.

Ah! Yes, a Chinchilla does sort of look like a rat, and in all the pictures I found they weren't quite as cute as the two a friend of mine has. But while rats have pointy noses Chinchillas have flat noses, and they have almost ridiculously huge ears and they're a bit scruffier than rats and don't have the scaly tail (i think... might be wrong on the tail... but i've only seen them once). Also, the two I met anyway, had a completely different disposition than any rat I have ever met. They are more like mice, very timid.

As most people know, I love bunnies. They're my favorite animal. They're cute, they fun to watch, they can be entertained by damn near anything, and they love to cuddle no matter how old they are.

All the sudden.... I want pancakes.

I agree with Valk. Bunnies are nice... And I'll have to appologize ahead of time. My nerdiness gets the best of me.

Lantis, I'm sorry that you didn't have a more positive experience with your ferret! I've had up to six of them at one time, and I love them immensely and think that they are wonderful pets.

Regarding the "stink", was your ferret de-scented or natural? Yes, even the de-scented ones still have a musky smell to them, but not everyone finds it offensive.

About them not wanting to be held and cuddled. I didn't work when I first got all of mine, and with the exception of one of them, I got them all when they were just old enough to be separated from the mother. I spent an enormous amount of time with them. Holding them, petting them, talking to them, giving them little smooches, basically spoiling them rotten!

They were all extremely sweet, gentle, lovable, playful, and loved to be held and cuddled. Although I admit that, it was usually after they had had a frenzied playtime first. They were very affectionate creatures, always giving me little kisses and nuzzles. Each one had its own little personality! I loved them so much.

I had two huge cages that had three levels each and were connected by a large tunnel. It could be closed off when needed, so that I could put all of them into one cage and keep them there while I cleaned their litter boxes in the other cage.

They all took to litter box training almost immediately. I don't know why you had a problem with yours. Were you keeping the boxes in the corners of the cage or room that you kept your ferret in? If you let them run loose in the house, you need to have several boxes in corners, because they won't go too far out of their way to find one.

They all got along famously with each other, all eight cats, and both Rottweilers that were living in the household at the time (I lived with my sister). They used to run through the house during playtime, taking turns being chased by hordes of other animals, and then doing the chasing themselves. They are such a delight to watch! I love seeing them do their little “ferret danceâ€

... Dolphins are quite freaking awesome.

BQ! I envy you that you have had the chance to get so close to them before, or at least that's what I'm guessing since you said that you like playing with dolphins and all.

In fact, the only animal out there that's more cool than the dolphin is ... the deer! It's just a shame that where Lantis and I live there's so many people who enjoy going out and shooting the poor creatures all of the time.
