the craziest thing is my grampa wrote cards for me and my brother. he's like... NEVER done that before. 'Twas amazing.

usually christmas has the whole family sitting in my grama's living room (all the girls with cameras ... *shudder* ><) we havn't been home for christmas in like.... *think think* five or six years!

Well with me I haven't had grandparents since I was like 1 or something, and over the years most of my family stopped really talking to each other, or live too far away (one of my aunts lives in Spain).

Never really bothered me much though as I still have a good Christmas anyway.

My family did that as well. I did mainly because I don't want to go through the drama that would ensue if I told them I don't necessarily believe in the teachings of the Bible and think it's just a good book. Gotta love fervent people. Guilt trips for everyone non-Christian, that's what non-Christians get for Christmas.

Yep I'm done, and of course no offense to people who don't push their beliefs on others. To those that do, a Bah Humbug to you.

eek >< does your family know that you arn't neccessarily christian? do they ever want you to say grace at the table?

my mom tried to make me say grace once knowing that i wasn't following the whole christian thing anymore. I prayed eloquently to the great chinchilla in the sky and she hasn't asked since.. o.O

Not really as I normally just play along, but no I'm normally not asked to say grace, and normally don't have to goto church, but of course she asks. But I normally don't say much because I really don't feel like hashing it all out because it would be unnecessary, and she would always get all sad and feel for my soul or something. So I think this time ignorance is better. Plus it's possible she might get people from the church and have an intervention and that would be fun. I'de have to study up for it so I could make sure to come up with very logical arguments against everything they say. Of course she realizes I'm not very religious as that's kind of hard to hide, because I'm not going to fake getting all into it, but I'll just smile and nod. Yes I'm still a Christian, yes I believe Jesus is the son of God and rose from the dead, yes the bible is the word of God, blah blah blah. I've tried to hint at maybe the Bible is wrong before, and the whole it's been translated so many times I would imagine it would have lost a lot of it's original meaning, but it's hard to argue logically with a deeply religious person, of any denomination. So in the end it's best to leave them be, and if their mother agree with them publically, while disagree with them privately, because they're paying your bills (well just food and house, I have some other bills I have to pay, and I pay for internet). Plus my mom is pretty cool, just once she hits those religious stints it's hard to get her to think about anything else.

Maybe when I get my career job and move out permanently, I'll think about telling her. But I don't like to be bothered a lot so I probably wouldn't.
